Use of Matrices

Hi Hank,

Does the *MATRIX command only recognize one of the in-built matrices? I have a matrix.ini file which defines a few matrices not built into HC, such as the Portugese BVCD, CG-ANIMATIONS, etc. Then I tried a batch HC run in which I pased to HC a few parameters including the location of an hc.ini file. One of the commands in hc.ini is *MATRIX BVCD. However, HC ignored this command and encoded with the default mpeg2 matrix. When I changed the line in hc.ini to *MATRIX QLB, it encoded with the QLB. Can the *MATRIX command be used as I intended to above, or would HC recognize an external matrix only when the *CUSTOMMATRIX command is used? Thanks for a fantastic encoder, by the way.

I'm not sure if you see that you answer yourself to your question...

You tested, it does not work + You know that to use a custom matrix you have the "CUSTOMMATRIX" settings that exists...

You are right, Phil. When I read the HC documentation I thought there was a reference to HC looking for a matrix.ini file, which is why I set it up that way. Now I see I was confusing the NuEnc documentation with HC's. I must admit, though, that the way NuEnc uses a matrix.ini allows for much greater flexibility in handling matrices. Thanks for clearing it up. HC is still a fantastic encoder, anyway.
