Using Main Concept for kdvd encoding

Is there a way to load a template for main concept? I really like the application and it looks like it can be configured in quantim matrix but I am a fool with that sort of thing. Plz tell me if and how to set this program to do kdvd halfD1 and fullD kdvd. TIA :D

Hi phuquehair,

MCE doesn't allow custom matrixes, so you can't use KVCD/KDVD matrix with that encoder.

Ok thanx for the fast reply.

You can!

And here some templates:

http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1...E2VCCHDDDDZ3C0

In version 1.0.4.1 put your templates in C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\MCMPEGEnc

In version 1.0.4.2 folder changed but it can't be hard to find, just save any config as template (search in menu) and then search your pc for *.mef
But first save one as MCE has templates with extension mef in it own folder.

MCE is a "pain" when you need to predict final size in Q mode, in 2 pass vbr don't gives good results if you don't know it very very well.

The zip file is actually an html page telling you that the file does not exist anymore.

You will find vbr very hard to tweak it. If you don't disspose enough bitrate, and Q mode, hard to do prediction as there is not Q intermediate or floating point values, so you need to adjust final size with another tricks.
If you follow the guide I posted here, you will obtain an excelent (IMO) and fast result.

Yes, I realised that, I used the template as posted by you with excellent outputs. Now I am trying with a different set of av script (dialhot, Kwangs optimized).

Btw, in the templates that I downloaded I saw that the only difference between the KVCD and KDVD was the VBV buffer and the motion search ranges.

Is it normal to use MPEG2 output for both KVCD and KDVD templates since I thought KVCD was MPEG1 (which can still be used in DVD's and you get smaller sizes)???.

Actually KVCD can be MPEG1 (and then you do VCD) or MPEG2 (and then you do SVCD). On DVD you can use MPEG1 only at VCD resolution (352*288) and MPEG2 for any others.
