No, Rui is almost right.
Do install BESIDE FFdshow xvid, and do set in FFdshows dshow and vfw codec sections "RAW" at off. This forces XVID to be the one to handle RAW YV12 Bitstreams. Cause if its set to true, the yv12 RAW output of the mpeg2 decoder again will be "filtered". You also can avoid that by changing in the options how many ffdshow filter instances in the system chain are allowed to be called. I always do set it to one filter call. |
I uninstalled ffvfw, and that did the trick.
In Vdub it says it is using xvid for decompressing, and the preview in PARanoia is now working. Thanks a lot. :) What would be the benefits of having ffdshow installed? I did a major cleanup of codec packs a while ago and I don't want to have anything installed I don't need... The cleanup was a nightmare, and I had to clean the registry a few times to remove them all. I don't even know if I got them all out. I was only a couple of minutes from a clean install, but right now it looks ok... -Anerboda |
Only three things u need to install manually to your system:
1. Xvid (for XVID and RAW YV12 decoding) http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml 2. FFdshow for the rest (set to NO RAW decoding) http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi...rs/ffdshow.cfm 3. Haali Media Splitter (for mp4, mkv and btw. avi also) http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/ And if needed ... 4. VSfilter for Subs playback (mp4, mkv) http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=589 In regular, Haali Mediasplitter and FFdshows "embedded" subtitle option enabled are enough. I use these on my HTPC and all works nice. For shure, if installing WinDVD or NeroDigital etc. ... these also do install/register "their" splittes and decoders, so watch out! ;) Quote:
Also advanced filtering while playback is a nice bonbon. |

go into the codec support section of ffdshow, very low is "RAW" and here do uncheck, also in the FFvfv codec support section

Boulder,
what happened to your mjpeg importing issue? Solved? I made some tests using diff. encoders and decoders used. I kept my eye on proper playback and framecount info: Code:
captured: Picvideo 2.10 mjpeg ---> Decoding: PicVideo 2.10 Thanx :) |
The image (clip encoded with ffdshow mjpeg) shows in correct size but the framecount is still wrong. The build is from 13.10.2005, built by CelticDruid.
|
Means you did also let ffdshow mjpeg decoder decode your picVideo streams before?
Means on ONLY mjpeg-avis no matter if decoded by ffdshow or PicVideo or ALSO other types of encoded avis (xvid,3vix, Huffy etc)? |

The ffdshow stream (decoded with ffdshow) shows a correct image but the framecount is still wrong. Quote:

Hmmmmmm... maybe then a XP issue?! Im on Win2000.
I dont know if there has been a significant change in the vfw API since XP. |

OT When you post an update, could you add the link to the program thread. It wouldn't be so hard for you and would be useful for us. Tip: When you post your program thread update, before come here and post the new, copy the link or your first post from the little image on its left top: "http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif Posted: Sun 06 Nov, 2005 3:17 am Post subject:" END OT |
Did I catch something wrong?
The Link in the main Appl. Thread is also updated in the same minute I do post the announcement in here. @Generall Probably tomorrow I'll release a Version where MUCH more sources are supported, like ... mp4, mkv, wmv. |
Get some sleep Andrej
Great work  -kwag |
