Video colors are all washed, the picture has TV grainyness?

okay, I've just started making kvcd backups of my dvds for roadtrips. Here is the process I go through.

1. Rip the VOBs with SmartRipper.
2. Make a project file with DVD2Avi.
Run the project file and audio file that dvd2avi gave through TMpeg with the template "KVCD-CQ-352x480-_NTSCFilm_-PLUS"

I know that there is something wrong cuz the colors are all washed and the picture has almost a TV grainyness to it. Thanks for any and all help in advance.

You should probably follow one of the guides available on the front page and then ask questions if you have them.

The process is ripping->creating a d2v project->creating an Avisynth script->frameserving the script to the encoder and encoding.

A search should also yield a lot of useful threads in which the whole thing has been explained thoroughly.
