KDVD: Anamorphic or Non-Anamorphic?
 

What do I loose if I encode 704x576, 16:9 but do not select anamorphic in FitCD(source is not anamorphic), if I will view the encoded video in

a) 4:3 TV
b) Widescreen TV

Or if someone can point me to a good guide with all these confusing questions ????

You won't loose anything as FitCD is designed to give you the best according to your choices. But you wont use all the potential of your DVD.

An anamorphic picture is better when viewed on a widescreen TV. There is no diff on a 4:3 one.

Don't forget to set 2 or 3 blocks overscan :!:
If you dont, you'll be encoding picture area that you will never see, as it will be outside the picture tube visibility.
Also, if you don't use overscan, you'll loose quality, as those precious bits will be on video area that you will never see, and overall quality of the movie will be reduced.

FitCD only supports RESIZED overscan. Means mybe the whole 720 videoinfo will be included in the final resized area, BUT for shure as the AR will be kept as it can be, ... the movie heigth also will be shrinked. So the final active area gots even LESS Details seen in a "subjective" whole.

At 1.778:1 Movies I would choose "Resized" as the vertical downsize still matches the TV Overscan BUT on 2.35:1 I shurely do use "Overlayed" Overscan, so the output will be like on the orig DVD.

How to accomplish overlayed overscan, with or without FitCD ???, for the understanding.
