MediaPlayer Classic 6.4.8.5 delivered
 

Hi all,
you can find new MediaPlayer Classic version delivered here: MediaPlayer Classic

As far as I know Gabest didn't deliver any changelog. But I read at Doom forum it was improved MP4 and MKV support, as well as it now supports internally rendering subtitles in MP4 streams.
It was nice for me because the MatroskaSplitter+VSfilter way didn't work well for me ever. Now I can play my MP4 files and see subtitles OK 8) . It has a built-in MP4 splitter, no need of external splitter.

It needs an external directshow h264/x264 decoder (ffdshow i.e.).
It's a little more CPU consuming than other players, more if you're playing subs (I read an explanation why, I didn't really understand :oops: ). To see subs well displayed, you have to choose in Options>Playback>Output, under DirectShow video, the option VMR9 (renderless).

BTW: If you need any other Dshow Player for propoer mp4 etc. subtitle playback (like Zoomplayer on a HTPC), then just do use the Haali media splitter as default mediasplitter (set a highest merit for it) and in FFDshow subtitles enabled, this also makes it possible watching subtitles via FFdshow decoder without any problems :)

Thanx Inc, you're right, the way is through Haali Madia Splitter, and not matroska media splitter.
But as I said, this way didn't work for me at all (sure was my fault).
I prefer by far a single player way (I tried vlc, but didn't show subtitles in the mp4 stream) like MPC for instance.

Except that you can't switch audio/subtitle tracks without loosing the sound :(

I just testet Zoomplayer on my HTCP and cant remember when switching the audio/subtitle track that the soundoutput got into problems.

It was not sarcastic but it could be : one day I add several MKV to convert and I updated the splitter in the middle of the process. This broke everyrhing ! Impossible to encode the last sources I add to do.
And the problem is that the exe you download had always the same name, so you erase the old one when you download the new. Fortunally, I had a recent ghost to restore the file.

The splitter do not have a beta/final way of life. You can consider that as always beta, or always final, depending if you are optimistic or not :D
Only one time there was a "MediaSplitterTest.exe" that was a beta because big things were changed and the author did not want to validate them before somone else did some tests.

It seems you are speaking about MPC, not Haali MediaSplitter. Don't you ?

My question was an honest one ;-).
I have hear so much good things about zoom that I'm almost tempted to try it again.
But I still haven't because last time around I tried it I had to download codecs and media splitter and stuff while with MPC I have never had to do so.
My sources are always DVD/VOB and MPC can always play them.
Or maybe it also uses XviD which I always install to decode YV12.
If I download zoomplayer again, can you point me to the other files I will need to play VCD/DVD/VOB?

The switch problems is with it and whatever the player you use that's the same :)

For you question about Zoomplayer, I use it and Ligos Mpeg2 decoder and Ligos splitter to read my VCD/VOB/MPEG

I would feel much safer if I knew I was not downloading a minimal pack or a medium pack or a full pack, you know ;-).

Phil ... I just tested my KillBill mp4 testing which includes ger and eng audio tracks and also ger subtitles.

Und "Stream Selection" in Zoomplayer I which lets the Haali Splitter stream options come up, I can easely switch between audio tracks with no problems.

Correction (always with previous release) : switching the audio make it dissappear for some (long) seconds. Switching the subtitles makes the audio dissapear... for ever.
The same, jumping forward or backward makes the audio dissapear. I managed to fix the problem by forcing the audio/subtitle default selection in the splitter settings, but I still can't use the ff/rew (and so, the chapters).

Note that the video was RV10, the subtitles were VobSub. Probably not the best situation.

Errr, I think that Ligos codecs and splitters are not free.
Can you clarify that Phil?

Hum..; I find them find the ACE codec pack. Never care about if they are free or not.

Note1: I think you already have a software to read DVD on your PC ? WinDVD or PowerDVD. If yes, then zp will use the codec they install.

Note2: when you install zp it checks the format you can't handle and suggest you a link to load a compatible codec (the same way as MPC does). It will probably point you to a free mpeg2 codec.
