I wanted to release it also with an updated GUI version but the old GUI isn't flexible enough,
it's too big, just can't fit the new buttons in it anymore (and it's ugly also )
So there will be a completely new GUI but that will take some time to finish...

But thanks to all comments/feedback the HC016batch version is now final:

http://hank315.dyndns.org/HCbatch_016.zip

- fixes the playback on some strict players (Pioneer)
- pulldown issue is fixed, streams can be pulldowned for PAL and NTSC GOP lengths
- updated 1 pass CQ_MAXBITRATE run, should result in better prediction
- autoq2 matrix replaced with avamat6 and avamat7 (both by Amnon82)

Some of this is already in the latest test releases but not all.
For those who use DBD-RB with HC, just replace and rename the exe file with this one.

Thanks sparskter.

Wow! I can't wait to try this out, this has been bugging me forever! I have always wondered what the "problem" was with the Pioneer players - does anyone know what needed to be changed to fix it?

(Hope I'm not being premature about it being *fixed* - will have to try it some time this week! :D )

Hank probably "trimmed" some of the spikes on several bits, making it now more DVD compliant.

Is HC GUI 016 ready? Where can I get it?
Thanx :D

rds_correia 12-03-2005 09:04 AM

Nope, not yet and by the looks of it Hank might take some time before he releases HC GUI 0.16.
And that's mainly because there are some new features/buttons that don't fit inside the current GUI.
Because of that Hank is going to re-think and re-write the GUI and knowing Hank as we know him (he hates drawing GUIs ) this will most probably take him some time (meaning many days if not weeks).
But why would you need the GUI version?
The batch version comes with everything that you can ask for and with everything present in the GUI version.
Editing the HC.ini textfile shouldn't take you more than a couple of minutes so I can't see why you'd need the GUI version.
If you need some help building you HC.ini just "shoot" and somebody here will surely help ;-).
Cheers

Thanks rds_correia! I've never used the batch version, but after your explanation I'll do it. I'll try to edit the ini file on my own, and if there's any troble I'll ask for help in this site.

:D

That's the spirit ;-)!
After all, we're always here to help my (Spanish?) friend :).
Cheers

HCGUI 0.16 FINAL

The GUI for HC016 is finally finished, also some bug fixes for the batch version and the manual is updated.

The GUI version doesn't have a built in encoder anymore, it uses the batch version for encoding.
It has some new features:
- load and save ini files
- preview function
- setting chapter points

Get it at http://hank315.dyndns.org/HC_016.zip

Recommended Avisynth version: 2.5.6a
best regards

Thanks sparskter.

rds_correia 12-17-2005 09:05 AM

Gee, thanks Sparskter :P
Hank really did it this time.
I would have done the same myself if I were in his shoes.
That is making the GUI only as a simple GUI/ini creator and having the HCbatch the real encoding engine.
This might not be a huge step but it sure is a very nice one indeed.
On to test it and see it's quality ;-).
Cheers
