Question on DVD VCD Compatibility

my question is, what would be the preferred Blank dvd format for burning vcds for watching on stand alone dvd players, some say dvd-r i just bought a new burner from sony which is compatible with all formats and im new to the whole dvd burning thing, im so used to standard cd-rs but some movies are impossible to back up on cd-r without unbelievable quality loss thanks in advance for any input on this subject

Well, you're about to enter a new world: the one of KDVD. That means 6 hours of DVD quality on one disc. So drop the VCD on a DVD, execpt if you really want to cram 14 hours on one disc.

It doesn't really matter which type of media you use. I always use +R media, as it is possible with these media to forsee in errorcorrection while burning.
The -R media hasn't. So I would recommend the +R media. But, before you buy lots of em, make sure your SAP plays it correctly, as not every SAP plays both formats.

Hope this helps you out.
