KDVD: Best CCE 2.70 Settings?
Hello,
I have been recently trying a variation of encodings with CCE to try and find the best settings to use the software with for the purpose of KSVCD/KDVD encodings. Can someone pleae explain to me briefly what resolutions i can feed to the encoder by way of an AVS script ie. for KSVCD purposes only and what are the optimum DC settings for both of the above formats. I normally use DC:8 for KSVCD and 9 for KDVD. Are these correct? Secondly do i need to use any of the Natural film' settings in KDVD settings and what is the optimum amount of passes i should be setting the encoder up for, ie. 2, 3, or 4 etc. I have read the posts on this but there appears to be different views. There are a few more settings i am not sure of but i would like to get these sorted out first. Can anyone who uses this encoder alot for the above purposes please advise me if they can. Thanks, Blubear. |

In this mode the quality is setted by the parameter "Q". The more the Q is, the less is the quality. I suggest you to no go above 30 (some say 40). Honnestly I never encode above 25 as the quality degrades so fast after that. |
Ok Phil,
Many thanks for that. I have tried a few encodes with OPV for KSVCD with AVS script feeding sizings of 352x288. Been using a piece of software called qCCE 1.02 to find my Q factor but i have been noticing that the encoded files are coming up about 150 - 200mb undersized! obviously i dont want to oversize, but if you could spare the time can you teach me how to find the Q factor manually or direct me please to a link to read up on this. BTW - In CCE 2.70 in the edit field after loading a script i see Audio is included to the left hand side of the field. This seems preset to 224 / 48Hz. Do i need to alter these settings in any way to show the encoder what my predicted audio will be: i.e in this case for SVCD 128 / resample to 44Hz etc. I am getting Q factors at the moment for a 1:49:00 film of about 30 - 32 but you have to stand it appears about half a mile away from the TV to get a decent picture. I must be doing something wrong here, i know its not DVD but still. Blubear  |

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/dialhot/guideENpack200.rar He also did a lilttle tool that helps to find the correct size the encoded sample needs to be : http://perso.wanadoo.fr/dialhot/KDVDCalc.exe Let me know if this is enought for you. Quote:
(note: normally your script should not provide any audio. You need to use "audio=false" or "Killaudio()" depending on the source type you have. see avisynth doc). Quote:

Question : is you movie full screen ? 1h49 is not very long, and the VCD resolution is needed only if the movie is fullscreen. You can try SVCD res for such length. |
Hi Phil,
Thanks for the advise. Downloaded the tool and guide. Using trial version for the benefit of the guide of CCE 2.67. Here is my script i am using: LoadPlugin("C:\Avisynth 2.5\Plugins\Sampler.dll") MPEG2Dec3_mpeg2source("C:\Movie1.d2v",cpu=4) BicubicResize(336,160,1./3.,1./3.,18,72,684,434) Asharp(1,4) RemoveGrain() Deen() Undot() TemporalSoften(2,7,7,3,2) #Blockbuster(method="noise",detail_min=1,detail_ma x=10,variance=0.3,seed=5823) Addborders(8,64,8,64) KillAudio() Sampler(Length=GOP) I have followed the guide in regards to install of Sampler.dll in plugins folder and entered in my script as above. Q. in regards to sampler.dll have i input that correctly on the script or should it read: Sampler(110=15) etc? Not clear there. I have all my other figures down correctly in regards to frames, time of movie and audio etc. When inputing this script i get the following error: Frame size 808x56 is not supported.Supported frame size is up to 720x576. When i add " each size of the sampler line like in the guide i get a sample of only 2 seconds duration no matter what Q i set to sample. Any ideas what i am doing wrong here? Thank you. Blubear. |

You just have to give the value for the GOP. What is in the left part of the equation is the parameter name and you must let it. Simply type "Sampler(length=15)" Quote:
