Downloaded kvcd movie

I have just got into downloading movies.Do I hear booing?
Anyway,I was not able to "convert" the movie to be able to "burn" it.
It is in kvcd format.What software do I need?
I watched it "on the computer" and the quality was excellent,so I would prefer to download in this format as opposed to avi.xvid etc.
As you can tell I am very much a beginner at this so please keep it simple,and especially ...PATIENCE.
