KVCD Template differences?

Can someone tell me what the difference is between the kvcdx2-2cd template and the kvcdplus template.
Thanks
John

Hi john,

The KVCD PLUS templates have our own custom Quantization Matrix, matched to an optimized GOP structure and use CQ_VBR for encoding. The original KVCD templates, not the PLUS, have the standard Q. Matrix and a slightly modified GOP structure and use CQ encoding. You get much higher quality with the PLUS templates.

Is there any reason to keep the old (not plus) templates?

No, they will be dumped on the trash can, probably by tomorrow  . I'm synching all templates to use the same Q. Matrix. Then from 352x240(288) to 352x480(576), uses one set of GOP, and above that another longer set of GOP. I'll try to set that up tomorrow. Then the old (semi) KVCD templates will be gone, because they're no match for the PLUS templates.

Templates

I notice that the plus templates are either ntsc film or pal. Is there a regular ntsc template? Is there a place that gives detailed instructions for converting pal to ntsc. Im pretty much lost when I start reading about interlace and 3:2 pulldown stuff. From what I have been told yo just cant load a ntsc template and be on your merry way.
Thanks
John
