How big are they?
  • I believe I read somewhere that you get 50MB of FILES storage if you start up a FREE Yahoo Group. Why not use that temporarily so that us "new" users can d/l all the different KVCD versions, burn a CD/RW and see how our player handles them.

Or, a FREE GeoCities Webpage is another alternative, although I don't know how much space you're allowed. You could probably copy the current HTML from here right into place, just changing the paths to the files.

Or, back at Yahoo, you could also create a FREE Yahoo Briefcase (another 50MB I "think") and post the UserID and PW here.
I'll keep an eye out for your reply in my E-Mail notification.

Happy Holidays!

P.S. I get a kick out of playing with the different tags... :D :D :D

Wouldn´t be a nice idea to use P2P such as edonkey for sharing the files?

Gaudi

But then you'd have to schedule a time for both machines to be running *and* everybody would have to install edonkey (8O 8O adware??? 8O 8O)

Many people already have Yahoo accounts (those that joined mickeymouse's Yahoo Script Group do at least! :D ) and GeoCities would be just another webpage. Hopefully something can be done
today...   [Potential New KVCD Template Users have been patiently waiting for WEEKS!]

That site will not be up again. All current samples are in the forum threads. Check down this thread: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1969
for some of the latest. The original long samples were posted to prove a point  . For legal reasons, there won't be more long samples. So just download the small clips available, or use the templates to encode your own longer samples. Also , the more samples I put, the higher is my monthly bill :!: . Because my hosting provider charges by a measured data transfer per month, every month when I see the statistics I look like this 8O 8O 8O

One last favor - would you please provide a table/list of which Track (1 - 11) is which sample from the Templates Page? I'm going to go burn this CD/RW right now and see what it looks like on my player (Pioneer 343) - then, with the table, I'll pick which template(s) to try out.

:D :D :D Appreciate it!!! :D :D :D

@ClearToLand,

each sample is labeled with a subtitle.

glad to help,

How exactly do I burn this with Nero? I though we also need a .cue file, when I load it with the Burn Image option with Nero it asks me for some options and I dont know what to select.

andybno1 01-21-2003 07:14 AM

will this be updated with the new version kvcd x2, x3, lbr and ulbr samples??

kwag 01-21-2003 09:19 AM

I'll try to do something today. But the image will be much smaller. Maybe each sample will be ~10 seconds. I'll put that on the top of my priority list today :D Stay tunned 8)

I'm a little confused, the main part of the forum says you have posted in whats happening section, but when I go there your message is not there.

dazedconfused 01-21-2003 02:15 PM

scroll down the page a bit...it's there. it's just not a sticky.

Kwag, was the audio of the samples on the compatibility test cdr @ 44.1khz or 48khz? Also, what bitrate was the audio....128kbps or 112kbps?...or perhaps something else, like (gulp!) standard 224?

Just trying to narrow down possible reasons/fixes for some of the samples not playing correctly on my player. Thanks.

hey kwag, I burned the image with Nero to a CDRW. WinDVD reads, plays menu and clips. But when I pop the cdrw in my Samsung s221 (which has a sticker that says: supports CD-R/RW) it wont load the disc.

Oh and I downloaded a sample SVCD image from VCDHelp.com and burned it to the same CDRW and my DVD player couldnt load the disc. But then I created a small mpeg2 clip and burned it with Nero using the SVCD option. My DVD played it normally and even a little SVCD icon showed up in the DVD.

So why does my player have problems playing nero images and cue/bins?

I don't know 8O.
Can you try to burn the kvcd-compat-v2.bin image instead of the nero image :?:

Kban 01-22-2003 08:46 AM

Both didnt work :( Is there a way to extract the clips from the images so that I burn them to the CDRW using the SVCD option?

Sure. IsoBuster :D. http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/

Perfect Cell 01-22-2003 09:24 AM

To get "files" from iso files ( or .bin, .nrg , etc. ) I use ISOBUSTER, this little program can open a .iso image like windows can open a directory.

You can get the isobuster in www.downloads.com , just put the name of the program in the windows section and then you can get the archives you want from the image.
