KVCD: Can't play KVCDx2 burn?

Hi Kwag or anyone who may help

I’ve been using Tmpgenc for video and audio encoding with KVCD for some time with outstanding results - thanks KWAG. Now I want to use the Headac3he and BBmpeg for audio encoding and muxing.

When I mux the .m1v from Tmpgenc (video only encoding) using KVCDx2 with the .mp2 audio from Headac3he it produces the file OK. I burn in VCDeasy and I note that in the window it shows the file as an MPEG-2. My DVD won’t play MPEG-2 and it won’t play this burn. In the past I have had to do the header thing with Tmpgenc to play MPEG-2. If I look at the .m1v file in Tmpgenc tools it definitely shows it as MPEG-1. The file and burn play fine in WinDVD on the PC.

I note the guides say to use the SVCD setting in both BBmpeg and VCDEasy. I assume this puts MPEG-2 header on?? The VCD setting doesn’t seem to work in BBmpeg. If I use the VCD setting in VCDEasy, that won’t play either.

Under the BBmpeg “Load and Save Settings” tab I notice there is nothing showing in “Settings file name” – not sure if that is a problem as one of the guides showed an .INI file here.

I’m running XP Pro and have installed the BBmpeg patch. I don’t particularly want to go back to Tmpgenc for muxing as I like the auto file cutting in BBmpeg and I assume from the expert advice on this forum that it is a better prog for this.

Thanks in advance for any advice…..cheers.

Hi ozjeff99,

Why don't you mux as VCD. Not as SVCD?

Thanks Kwag. Always there to get us out of a jam. Yes I had tried to mux with BBmpeg in VCD mode with default settings and was getting underflow errors and the final .mpg was jerky with no sound. Your settings above work (there was no doubt). The critical parameter is the "Forced Mux Rate". It has to be the (your) zero setting.

The SVCD settings suggested in the FAQ and the kvcd guide on your other site did not work for me but with these VCD settings I now have the whole process nailed hopefully. Now I need to have a go at this DVD2SVCD thingy........cheers mate.
