Question about KVCD Settings

Hi I think I posted this in the wrong forum yesterday, since this has to do more with TMPGEnc. I downloaded the Spiderman movie and it is in 3 parts of roughly 39 minutes each, .avi. The settings I used the first time was the original KVCD settings and changed the motion search estimate to High Quality (slow). I burned it and it played on my DVD player. The only problems were that the picture was scrunched since the black bars on the top and bottom took up 3/4 of the screen. There was also 1-3 second pauses and blockiness. Oh, just an FYI, the file size was only 236 MB and I am using 700 MB Memorex CD-RW. So I am re-encoding it today and I changed the settings to: 352x288, the fps is still the same at 23.976fps, I changed the CQ to 95, and the rest is the same. So I just changed it to 352x288 and CQ to 95. I also increased the bitrate from I think it was 1450 to 1550. Should that help with the blockiness and pauses? The Quality the first time was Ok, I am looking to get it better. Thanks for the help.

Increaseing the bitrate will get rid of the blockyness but i wouldn"t change the resolution to 352 by 288 cuz that is a pal resolution and you are useing a ntsc frame rate and your dvd player might not support it, to get the movie to be full screen you have to change the "video arrange method" in the advanced settings to "full screen keep aspect ratio" or if there is a lot of those borders in the original avi file use the "clip frame" setting and cut the black borders out....
