vcdeasy: file isn't compatible or compliant?

ok when i use vcdeasy to burn the file after muxing it i look in the log andit says that my file isn't compatible or compliant so waht the problem there

ferferfer 11-23-2002 10:30 PM

Maybe ur mpeg is a stream written one?

knews2 11-23-2002 10:35 PM

so what can i do to change that or get it compliant

ferferfer 11-23-2002 10:41 PM

Stream writing is fast (mostly used to cut and join files) and then the file ends are not "tied up" . the only solution i know is re-encode it, full process... might take an hour or so.... but wut can u do about it...

Have you removed the tick beside the "perform some mpeg compliance checks " in the main window on vcdeasy, if this isnt removed it will kick up about a non compliant stream.

knews2 11-23-2002 11:42 PM

ok i did that and the same thing appeared in the log window
it says its possibly non compliant

ferferfer 11-23-2002 11:46 PM

Instead of VCDEasy, try using Nero, with "Create Standard compliant VCD" on. If Nero has no problems with it, then there will be no problems! (Hopefully)

i use nero with standard compliance on and the same outcome it skipps and fastforwards through the whole movie

Is this the meassge you get "strange (possibly non-compliant) user_data seen... (not a problem, usually a sign of TMPGEnc)"

knews2 11-23-2002 11:54 PM

yea.

knews2 11-23-2002 11:55 PM

sometimes it doesn't say

This is normal and nothing to worry about .
How does the end result work?
Try loading the bin, cue files into Daemon tools and viewing with power dvd or win dvd

As far as I know, computer DVD programs or the computer itself has a higher degree of tolerance to errors than DVD standalone players. In other words, meh, computer makes everything look fine.. but until u burn it, u're screwed and u wasted ur 50 cent disk

knews2 11-24-2002 12:42 AM

well itsl ike everything i try i get the same results and i don't know what to do.

ferferfer 11-24-2002 12:48 AM

Try 128kbps audio + 23.97 fps+ Two pass Variable bitrate (set max and min urself, min preferably over 650) and try it now!

Else, consider using 2 disks with Constant Bitrate 224kbps... default settings...

knews2 11-24-2002 01:28 AM

yo i will have to try that and see if it works.

if your dvd player supports cd/rw you can burn to that and test on your standalone, the point of testing on the pc first is to see if the encode was successful, if it works on the pc and not on the standalone then the problem is with the standalone and you can troubleshoot the problem further, if it doesnt work on the pc then you know that there is a problem with your encoding method. I have found in my experience that it is easier to get success when I have narrowed down where the error lies.
