KVCD: 352x480 template, everything looks squished?

I was experimenting with putting a 90 minute movie on one cd using the KVCD PLUS 352x480 template..
I left the default setting that loaded but since it is a wide screen movie I changed to "Full screen, keep aspect ratio" under the advanced tab.
Well, if I click the preview window it looks to be in proportion but the height of the preveiw window is 480
But everything looks squished in the status window while encoding since that window is 240..

If I leave the default at "full screen" then it appears I lose the wide screen format.

My TV size is just a standard 4x3 proportion:
If I go ahead and convert this movie using this template and burn it to a vcd, will the aspect ratio come out ok on my tv, even though TMPEGs encoding window shows it to be squished?

Hi end80
In Tmpge go into the options/preview options menu and click on do not fix preview size, this will make the encoding window the same size as the preview window.

Thanks Urban, but that is not really what I meant..
What I am saying is that I wanted to retain the widescreen display to show on my tv..
I want to use this 353x480 template and burn a 90 minute video in widescreen to a vcd, but when I selected "fullscreen - keep aspect ratio" the final output is kind of smashed when I play it on my tv..

Sop then I tried selecting just "Full Screen" and the final output on my tv looks closer to being correct in its dimensions but the wide screen is lost (no black bars - just a full screen)

So what I was asking is how do I retain widescreen for my tv while using this template?

I tend to think maybe I must be asking an ignorant question because I have seen several simular inquires to this one in other post that always seem to be left unanswered.. so I can only assume that the question is irritating to the more knowlegable somehow..

I dont think I am the only one who gets confused in reference to aspect ratios

Hi end80!

Try it using FitCD. It will take care of the resize and the black bars needed to preserve the widescreen and the correct aspect ratio. FitCD will output an AVS script that is 352x480 (select 1/2DVD as destination resolution), that is the exact resolution of the template you want to use. Then in TMPGEnc set the source aspect ratio to 3:3 display, and the video arrange method to full screen.

Note: Don’t pay attention to the top of FitCD, you will only use the “mpeg resize” and the “avs script” area.
You can find FitCD here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1369
