kvcd: encode with tmpgenc, burn, and it would skip?
 

ok i have an avi and if i convert teh avi to a dvd file will that help me with try to make the file work. in the beginning i would encode wit tmpgenc and burn and it would skip no matter wat template i used or anything. so can somene message me asap. i really want to get this to work.thanks.

first-did you search through the forums for your particular DVD player, etc.? Did you check the DVD compatabilty index? with certain players you need to adjust the template parameters to make it work...at least I had to in order to view converted files on my Mintek. It took a few tries (and several hours) for me but now I make VCDs that work nicely in my machine.
Research before posting a question...a lot of times you'll find someone has already had the same problem you've had and has posted a solution.

second-when asking for help you really should post as much information as possible. AVI...from what: capture, rip, download(DIVX)? DVD Player (make/model)? Skips how-audio, video, both? what kind of skipping-once a sec, every 3 seconds, video freezing?
If you really want help you gotta post relevant information...I doubt anyone can help you unless they know specifically what it is you are trying to do in as much detail as possible.

Third-I know it's frustrating when you want an answer ASAP but spamming forums with new threads rarely helps and besides...it's just plain rude (and you just copied and pasted the same post...did you read what you wrote?!? not only does it lack information it has quite a few spelling errors, I had to read it twice).

i have a zenith dvd2201 and found no one who had the same one on this site i checked everything and ive adjusted as much as i possibly could but the same results.

i have an xvid file(barbershop)it is one disc i tried using the lbr template and when i go to play in my dvd player audio skips through and video seems like its fastforwarding through. and i tried to encode as an vcd mpeg-1 instead of non standard and it worked fine only thing was the size the outcome of the file was about 1.00 gb. ive tried everything people have told me and it didnt' work but when i encode as standard vcd instead of non-standard it worked it was just the size.there is the problem now can someone please respond to me. thank you.

this movie is 1hr and 42 minutes long.

If your Zenith is anything like the Apex models, you could try encoding using MPEG-2 instead of MPEG-1, still using the LBR template, or you can rewrite the header of your MPEG-1 file and "fool" the player into believing it's an MPEG-2.

Also, is your xvid file 23.976 or 29.97 framerate? On my Apex 1500, if I use MPEG-1, I encode larger video sizes (704x480) at 29.97; if not, the audio skips. However, in the Apex, the 23.976 rate works with LBR.

You also didn't mention what CQ value you used when the encoded file was around 1 gb - if you lower the CQ value, you'll get a smaller result. The standard LBR CQ is 22, I think, so you may want to lower that and try again. Using the KVCD File Predictor helps determine the correct CQ to use for the file.

hi.thanks for responding. the framerate is 23.967 for that movie. and i do try to lower the cq value when encoding it at taht 1.00 gb file but the same file size comes out no matter how low i go and quality is terrrible.

u said that i could rewrite teh header how would i go about this

ok i tried doing that but when i went to play it in my dvd player it didn't read. i muxed it as a svcd adn burned as an svcd and it didn't work and then i tried burning as a vcd and the same thing happened.what else is tehre for me to do i think my dvd player is like those apex. because both give the same results of the file skipping.

Have you tried re-encoding the file with 29.97 fps? When you load the template, just select "settings" and change the framerate (under the "video" tab) to 29.97 and encode the file.

This will give a bigger video file (since there are more frames), so you may have to lower the CQ value to get the movie to fit on one disk. As I mentioned before, my Apex 1500 skips if the video is 23.976 fps, but works fine when I encode the file at 29.97 fps. Might be your best bet.

ok i tried the encoding wth 29.97 framerate with the regualr kvcd template
raising bitrate minimum to 600 and cq to 70 and burned and the first 2 or 3 seconds didn't skip but then movie began skipping but it didn't seem as bad as it usually did but it was still skipping regardless. then i tried de-mux and remux as svcd and burnign as vcd and when i went to play in my dvd player it recognized the file as vcd but when i played it didn't show movie it just stayed in my main dvd screen and nothing happened but the counter was moving as if the movie was playing.what is the problem here and now im testing it as a 29.97 framerate 700 min. bitrate 60 cq and encoding as standard vcd instead of non-standard.thanks.

and i will soon try to use kvcdx2 template with 480*480 600 min. bitrate 50 cq 29.97 and de-mux and re-mux as svcd and burning as vcd.

but before i will say i tested a movie encoding at 23.97 as vcd standard and not non-standard and it played only thing about this was the sizze.outcome was a 1.00 gb file.

ok i encoded the movie at 480*480 min. bitrate 600 cq 50 at 29.97 i demuxed it wit tmpgenc and remuxed it with tmpgenc as svcd burned as svcd and went to play in my dvd player it begans reading the disc but the it says disc error.

The CQ values set in the templates are there as a basic value. It won't guarantee X time to fit on a CD-R. That's why you must use the file prediction tools to fit your movie exactly on one CD-R.

ok i understand you but i go by what i see in other success stories. i think my zenith dvd player is in comparison to the apex becuase the audio skipz as well so i changed the framerate from 23.97 to 29.97 and like i said before the skipping didn't began till 2 or 3 seconds into the movie so it seems as if it is getting better.
so what more can i do to reduce this for good.

yo when i try to load in tmpgenc the same problem it crashes whn i try to load it says:
tmpgenc has caused an error in kernel32.dll
tmpgenc willl now close.

i also used the info from fitcd since i can't load avs scripts i put the info in manually and encoded a sample then multiplexed wit bbmpeg but when i went to play it in my dvd player it played great only prob. was there was no sound.

What processor do you have? What version of Windows?

a couple of notes:
I had a similar problem with my mintek (skipping of audio every 2-3 seconds)...actually it wasn't really "skipping" as much as the volume would go up and down every 2-3 seconds.
The solution, for me, was to set the "VBV buffer size" in Tempenc (or BBMPEG) to 22. Also, I have to encode in 29.97 as well or I get green screens when played on my Mintek.

It searches through your entire Windows Registry and Windows folders, and then reports its findings. It can also be forced to search an alternate path by typing it in. If an updated file is missing, or if a mismatch occurs between the version stored on the disk and the information in the Registry, the Update Information Tool will let you know by marking the "culprit" in red. QFECHECK can also accurately determine your Windows release and core files version/build (i.e. Kernel32.dll, User.exe), especially if you upgraded by installing a patch/fix, so you know exactly which Windows release you're currently using. " I never tried it I just did a search on kernal32 errors and someone posted the above.

Lastly, you say Tmpgenc crashes when you try to load the .AVS script...does it crash when loading/encoding a "pure" mpeg file?

This hack should also work on the Zenith DVD-2201
The following allows you to play VCDs and also enables Multi-Region playback:

VCD Hack:

Power on the player with no disk in the drive
Press Pause on the Remote
Enter 1, 4, 7, 2 on the Remote (the characters 01 47 should appear on the display, if your player is a non UK model, this number will probably be different)
Press the Up arrow Three times (the characters 04 Fd should appear on the display)
Press Program, 6, Program, 5 (the characters 04 FE should now be displayed)
Press Enter (the display should flash briefly)
Press Return
Power the player off and then back on
Play a VCD
Multi Region Hack:

Power on the player with no disk in the drive
Press Pause on the Remote
Enter 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9 on the Remote (the word COdE appears on the display)
Enter 0 on the Remote (0 = All Regions, 1 = Region 1, 2 = Region 2, etc.)
Press Pause on the Remote
Power the player off and then back on

how can i convert an xvid movie into mpeg or mpeg2 ?
i have demux video and audio with vdub but bbmpeg or tmpgenc crash
Only nero can convert it properly but i can't change mpeg rate and video is turned over (up is down)
please help !

i didn't post that on thatsite but i already hacked my dvd player do u think i should use that code to hack again or wat but i really don't know what to do any more everythin i try won't work.

have you tried changing the VBV buffer setting?
That fixed the audio problems for me.

I wouldn't continue to try an hack your DVD player if you've done it before.

how would i know what to change it from. what did u change urs to, to make the problem go away and what was it at in the beginning before u changed becuase mine is at 40 right now.

Why did you encode your movie in the XVID format to begin with and wny not just rip it again?!?!?
