I have just finally encoded a divx download of Spiderman with your amazing new template with 100% success. The whole movie with trailers is 117 mins long and fits onto an 80 min cd with 4mb to spare! The quality is excellent.
I just need to figure out where i'm going wrong with a couple of other movies i have tried where I get green blotches and the odd squeek now and then, but hey, theres always trial and error when I try something new. Again thank for all your work Kwag. :D

8210 I am doing the exact same movie and I have been failing my Spiderman is in 3 parts with the first part beginning with the Hulk trailer correct? Could you tell me exactly what you did? I keep having massive blocks and pauses.

The problem is that the version I have (although it has the hulk trailer) was in one .avi not three. If you can get them joined then this is what I had to do.
When i tried to get the summary in properties so i could choose the template all i got was no summarry available so i encoded with both pal and ntsc so i could choose the best copy to burn. I set the aspect ratio to 4:3 and the cq to 80. And the quality setting to high quality. Audio to dual channel, and the size to 352x288. Everything else the templates took care of.
I'm sorry i cant remember which version i burned but the quality came out just fine and fits onto an 80min cdr with a couple of mb to spare.

did u fit a divx onto 1 80 min cd? how did u do it? i encoded training day divx and it came to well over 4 gig :?:

Have you tried decompressing the audio before encoding? I use avi to vcd's audio decompresor which takes the file from around 700mb to 1700mb. Then i encode the file and thats it.
I know where your coming from because i used to try encoding without decrompressing the audio and i ended up with some large file sizes. But this has worked everytime now. I have just encoded the 51st state which was a divx and although the movie is only 90 mins my final file size is 562mb and the quality is more or less great. I encoded this one at 352x320 cq 80 and dual channel for surround sound. Although i am going to reencode it to see if i can get it nearer the 800mb mark but am unsure as what to do yet. I will post my results to let you know.

thanks alot for letting me know just with the quailty does ir remain more or less as good as the divx? and where can i get the decomprser from?

You can get all of the software from http://www.vcdhelp.com/ or http://doom9.org/ But I have been trying http://www.cdrsoft.cc/index3.html as they have started to do fully working version of dvd,svcd and vcd software. :D

You have the Centropy version. It is the best version that is out so far. I am currently also trying to encode this wuth KVCD and in my first attemp it was going to come out at about 1800 MB so i am redoing it. Whn I finish within the next day or so I will let you know the size and the quality. It would be nice if people would post the seetings that they use to get the best quality. You also mentioned that the screen was squshed with huge black bars at the top and the bottom. That is because you didnt resize it at all. I am encoding it at 576X560. Good luck with the reencode.
