total vob files size was less than 4.7gb disk size?
 

Just bought Men In Black II and noticed the total vob files size was less than the average 4.7 gb disk size. There was also another movie (can't remember which one) that was the same size but it was recent. Have the movie DVD distributors starting using your gop? Most of the other dvds are anywhere from 6 to 9 vob files...Way to go Kwag! That is the most sincere compliment you can get :D . I've been using your 704x480 template and burning 2 cds for quite a while and can't tell the difference from the original.

Anyone else see this going on?

I think MIB II is small because it's a very short film. I believe it runs like 85 minutes, and that's the reason that it fit's in a single layer DVD. BTW: If DVD authors used KDVD templates, all movies would fit fine in a single layer DVD. But marketing wise, it's a negative point for them, because they want to screw 8O I MEAN sell 8) you more stuff. With single layer disks, they can't make that much profit because dual layer media is more expensive and they can jack up the price so you pay more, and they make more $ :!:

I tell ya, personally I love to be able to put 4 to 4 1/2 hours of, in my opinion, very high quality DVD content onto a single DVDr using the KDVD templates.....

I only get 4 to 4 1/2 hours cause I like to retain the unmolested AC3 5.1 tracks, and thems tends to be big .......

Too bad Hollywood can't see that reducing the cost to the consumer would drive sales far above any perceived loss from using more "expensive" media .....

And Blue Streak was 1:33 and the file size was 2.67gb. They're using some kind of compression because I can't tell the difference from other DVDs.

They're still using MPEG-2. I imagine they're probably applying more smoothing than other movies, which is not too noticible on a regular TV. Try looking at it on a high-quality projection screen though...
