No Audio In My SVCD

I encoded 007 Die Another Day from DivX AVI format into SVCD and I cannot hear any audio. I used TMPGEnc Plus 2.58. I chose "System (Audio + Video)" and specified the audio file. But, don't hear any audio what so ever. Is it possible that I need a certain audio codec?

-=Neo=-,

You need to extract the audio from the avi (Divx) using VirtualDub.
With VirtualDub open as input your avi file and make sure under the
audio tab you select full process. Then save audio as wav file. Now use this
wav as audio input in Tmpgenc. Create a test clip to see if it works.

Thanks. :D

Hi Neo,

If you are working with the the same version of Die another day that I am then the video was encoded with xvid and the audio is AC3. If this is the case I had to use nandub to extract the audio file , rename it from .wav to .ac3 then use azid to convert to a true uncompressed wave file. I could then convert this to mp2.

If on the other hand your copy is different please disregard the above

You will get better quality if you use VDub or NanDub to to a direct stream copy of the audio then use HeadAC3e to encode directly from AC3 to MP2. That way you can even encode with Pro Logic II for "almost 5.1" :).

I agree but the ac3 stream with these files would not open in headac3he or power dvd, it was not using the same codec as in a dvd so this was the work around to transcode them.

Most likely this is because VDub sticks a WAV header on the file so it no longer appears to be in AC3 format. I think there's a program in the Doom9 software area to remove the header, or you could -- I believe -- use BeSplit's "fix" option.

Thanks SansGrip,

I knew that but had forgotten, must have been one of those things that I forgot of to make room so I could remember all the new developments here lately
By the way great work with sampler, that little piece of work saves so much time :D

Reminds me of a conversation between Sherlock Holmes and Watson.

Watson: Holmes, did you know that the earth moves around the sun at xxx miles per hour?
Holmes: No, and now I do I shall try my best to forget it.
Watson: But why, Holmes??
Holmes: The mind is like an attic. There is only so much room for information, and to maintain order one must pick and choose what one remembers.

At least, that's something like how it went ;).

Thanks :). It's certainly easier to use than the old way. Sometimes I'd find myself with bizarre results, and it would be due to some typo or other when I'd copied over the formula. This way one can't make a mistake, as long as one gets the sample length right ;).

@ -=Neo=-,
