Does increasing bitrate help to get rid of blocks in low-frequency scenes?
 

hi guys,

If i have some space left on disk to fill with
video-data what would be the best to do:
raising CQ-value only or in combination with
the values for Min/Max bitrate :?:

Does encreasing of Min-bitrate value (to 400-500)
help to get rid of blocks in low-frequency areas?
when using blockbusters 'dither 0.4' as kwag recommends
i proberly can't see any difference... :oops:

Will i get better picture-quality when i raise Max-br
to 2500 even for low-action movies or is it better to
encrease CQ-value only :?:

Use file prediction to fill your disk :) Not really. It's not a bit rate problem. Those are DCT blocks. Increase the value to .7 or even 1.0 I leave my MAX set at 2,500Kbps regardles of the type of movie. TMPEG will use it if it's needed on high action scenes. If it's a low action movie, and there's no need to go that high, TMPEG will not use that bit rate. It's better to leave it set high enough because if you do have an action scene where there's bitrate demand but your MAX is too low, then you will then see blocks. I always use 2,500 MAX on resolutions > 352x480.
