KVCD: Unexplaned blockiness and ghost effect?
hey Kwag!
Your site is nice , hope will grow and RISE ! I allready wrote to your e-mail box but no unswer ! So to the prob:I'm using dvdX 1.8 for frameserving (with subs ) to TMPGenc 2.53 at ONE STEP. Basically it works and results are fine but... I've got DVD "Made man" movie ~3.9Gb total,85 min and he's driving me crasy. No matter what, i'm getting unexlaned blockiness and ghost (or something like) effect with your template. File size is not an issue here. DVDx output stream 352x288 PAL,TMPGenc video stream 352x288 4:3 display 625 line, non interlace,4:3 display 704x576,and rest of params no tuched. I did meny tests but can't get real nice clean picture with no ghost and no blokiness  Any help by appreciated bman |

Thanks!. I hope it grows too!. :D Try to use DVD2AVI, and create a project file. The resizing filters in DVDx are pretty bad, not to mention audio/sync problems. It generates too many artifacts. A good quality will be reading directly from the .d2v file created with DVD2AVI. If you want the best, and I mean second to none, is to process the .d2v file with an AviSynth script. This will add noise reduction and other features, and the final MPEG will be excelent. Check this thread: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11 Even though it's related to another device, the principles are the same, once you have your .d2v file generated from DVD2AVI. Because your system is PAL, please ignore the lines on the thread where Telecide and Decimate functions are used. kwag |
quality and blockiness
Hi Kwag!
Thank's for such quick answer. I allready have tryed (few dayes ago) d2v with tmpgenc , for same movie and quality was very fine. Planed to input the result mpg to vdub and add subs but from very strange reason vobsub can't extract subs from vobs ( I NEED SUBS IN My MOVIES ! ) Tryed to use FitCD with avs script you sugested here and got color convertion probs(picture like 8 color resolution). So i just encoded movie with your template CQ 100 and got 1.4 Gb file splited for 2 cd's .Quality FINE but 2 cd's. When i used d2v file size CQ77 ~750Mb. SO i can manage with this movie but just for curiosity and challange i'm trying some treacks to get same results at this way as with d2v file . If you can suggest some other way to get subs a'll be heppy to hear. Thank you ! |

About a month ago, I did subs perfectly with VurtualDub and VobSub. Yesterday I tried, and couldn't get it to work. I had upgraded VirtualDub and also VobSub. So I think there is a problem with one of the two, and the functionality is now broken with the new versions. I'll have to try downgrading, maybe VobSub first, to see if it starts working again. kwag |
