Encoding: Messed-up color with divx

I'm trying to convert a divx to mpeg and there are phsycadelic colors (purple sky, red and green blotches, etc.)- could this possibly be the "solarization" problem? This happens when loaded into vdub but not WMP. I tried adding "covertToRgb()" as the last line of the .avs but it wouldn't load into tmpg.

Any help with this appreciated-
ren

Hi ren,

If you right click/properties on that avi, what CODEC shows up?

Yep, this sounds like a codec issue, namely your version of the microsoft mpeg4 codec. I have a known working one at home... will try to see if it also mentions the link where I found it originally!

explorer only gave me resolution and audio info but vdub>file information said this: compressor- MS MPEG4 3688 V3 512x384 25 fps

I installed the Nimo codec pack but it didn't help

Thanks,
ren

Have you installed XviD

Problem solved!! It was a codec problem, I found a newer one for M$ MPEG4 V3 at Undercut.org. I had this same problem months ago so my solution was to just stay away from Divx

I'm not sure what XviD is

Thanks for the help

I guess they just couldn't find an original name, and they just found out that spelling DivX backwards was easier
