is there a way to decrease the avi file size?
 
is there a way to decriese the avi(dvdrips) size? when yes please post need help badly...got 2 gigs on my hd and i whant all my movies on 1 cd (each of course) so if u know anything please let me know....thank u so much 8)

The simple answer is lower the bitrate of the encoding and lower the resolution of the video. The size of your avi is dependent on a number of variables, the resolution( the bigger the picture size the bigger the file), the bitrate you are using( the higher the bitrate in audio and video encoding) will increase the size.
When I encode my SBC DivX movies my usual rez is 512x384, and in using nandub to produce a Smart Bitrate DivX it does help produce a smaller file size though not always. But the most important variable is the length of the movie your not going to put a three hour long movie on a single cd and keep the quality.

Yeah, no prob. just go to http://www.doom9.net/ . It's a site dedicated to the creation of Divx and to some extent vcd/svcd you'll find all the tools such as nandub and the like, plus a host of tutorials to help you out. Just don't expect your first results to be great, just experiment have fun.
