I think for the most knowledgable of people that visit here you would have to either provide some information on what your trying to do or look at the FAQ....

The quality was very good, but the main problem occurd when i was plying the CD on my Pioner DV-525. I could only see the movie on the half tv-screen, left side. I use the PAL template. (Not the beta).
The sound also popped random.
Playing on mp PC using Zoom Player, it looks very good.

Hi dogbert:

Please try the Beta template because it's 704x480.
Just change the output to 704x576 and the frame rate to 25fps.

dogbert.. I have a pioneer 636d, the machine doe not like 2 aspect of the template.. the CQ and the vbv settings..

solution for me was to change the cq to mvbr and vbv to 22.. changing one will not alter anything and will cause the same problems...

give it a try... :D

dogbert 06-11-2002 02:17 PM

YES,
finaly i managed to encode Tomb Rider with the 704x576 1 cd PAL.
The quality was excellent, but the filsize was about 1035 MB.
Won't fit on 1 CD.
I have not tested the mpg-file on my standalone DVD.

I didn't use FitCd to calculate the filesize.
Can this be the problem?

dogbert.

It works!

Did another test on Higlander 2 spesial edition.
Used Tmpge 2.55 in combination with dvd2svcd with CQ=70,
size 352x576, MPEG2, audio 128Kb as mp2, changed max bitrat down
1700. NTSC to PAL.

I ended up with an MPEG-file in a size 784Mb. The film is approx. 109 min.

Burned it with VCDEasy to make chapters too.

Played smootly on my Pioneer DV-525

Hi Dogbert

How u did that ? Wich template u used ?

I just canīt make my DV-525 Play the KVCD when itīs 352X480 or 352X576...

Help
Thanks !

kwag 07-01-2002 08:14 PM

Hi Paco:

The 525 should play 352x240 and 704x480. Have you tried one of those two templates?.

pacodoni 07-01-2002 08:26 PM

Hi Kwag :)

Yeah, i tried both, the 352X240 plays very well, with good image too.
I~m having a little trouble wih the filesize in the 704X480 i just donīt get the proportion you guys make, 15 min about 120-130 Megs. Anyway, the partial tests were very good, great image... by the way, the new template is already in the download page ?

But answering your question, iīve asked about the 352X480 and the 352X576 cos i couldnīt put them to work in the whole screen, it gets only half of it.

But i~ve tried the other templates and i liked a lot, i just got curious...

THanks Kwag !

I know what you mean :D
I have a Pioneer 333 ( laying in a closet now  ) an 385x480 never worked. I got your same result. Displays correct vertically, but horizontally only from the left of the TV to the center.

kwag

pacodoni 07-01-2002 09:37 PM

Right on Kwag :)

Yeap, thatīs exactly what happens...
Only half of the screen. In the other one, a Sony DAV-S300, the 352X480 works fine.8)
Guess that is an pioneer problem...

Well, i will keep focus on trying make my 704X480 movies get a smaller size.

See ya round

Hey Kwag :o

Try to take your pioneer connected in the TV again, Dogbert is right.

If you try the resolutions 352X480 , 352X576 with mpeg-1 it fill only half of the screen, but with the MPEG-2, it get fullscreen, and have no Gap, in the sound like the MPEG-1 provides... 8O

When you have the chance, give it a try, ok ?

Will do that

Hi pacodoni,
The templat that I used to creat the mpeg-file, in not an real
KVCD-template. It is more a conjunction with KVCD and DVD2SVCD.

To use DVD2SVCD with the kvcd-template, i used this link to set the sustem up.

http://forum.vcdhelp.com/userguides/98376.php

Try it.

dobgert

pacodoni 07-02-2002 02:53 PM

Hi Dogbert

Yep, it seems to be it alright...

Iīve changed, like you wrote before, to MPEG-2 and use the rest the same as Kwag template.
The size went fine, the picture too, but i will not use it anymore, cos this only worked on my Pioneer DV-525.
In my Sony DAV-s300, it freezes the image and no picture or sound can be watched or heard.
Win some, lose some, uh ?

Itīs a Bummer that this tamplate didnīt work because was the only way that i could remove the "gap" in sound from pioneer... VBV 22 didnīt work too...

Well, back to work, any new things, i post 2 ya all.

Hello pacodoni

Did you try the same method as Dogbert with DvdToSvcd and the kvcd temp?

Maybe it didn't work if you kept the audio at 48khz instead of downsampling. Don't give up so easily and give it another shot but this time in DvdToSvcd,

click the box under audio/Audio 1 Downsample 48 -> 44.1
then see if it works on your other player.

You might want to try this on only one chapter instead of a whole movie to make shure it works.

dogbert 08-01-2002 06:03 PM

Hi there.

I forget to say that i downsampeld the audio from 48 to 44.1.

I don't do 48KHz because i don't like the sound quality. To much hizzing in the audio stream. I dont't know why.

Hi T0mbraider

Iīm not giving up, donīt worry, everyday is a new lesson...
The problem is not just the audio, itīs the video also...
Unfortunately, the Dav-s300 (SONY HOME TEATHER ) doesnīt play svcd, so, it cant be done with mpeg-2...
The other thing, ( pioneer gap sound ) iīv used the automatic system with bitrate min 600 and vbv 22, and worked fine in both.
