TMPGEnc: Detect Scene Change & Use Floating point DCT

When I load any kvcd template into TMPG 2.510, under the GOP Structure tab, "Detect Scene change" is already checkmarked by default. Is this the correct setting to use with the kvcd templates, or is tmpg automatically choosing that for some reason?

Also, under the Quantize Matrix tab, "Use Floating point DCT(While Using SSE, alsways ON)" is checkmarked by default. Is this the right setting, or a bug or "feature" of tmpg?

A couple threads mentioned this briefly, but it was never made totally clear (at least, not to me   ). If this is a bug/"feature" of tmpg, then perhaps this info should be added to Sansgrip's "Recommended TMPGEnc Settings" sticky-post.

As always  , thanks a million Kwag!

Hi dazed&confused,

"Detect Scene Change" is set to OFF in all templates.
"Use Floating point DCT" is set to ON in all templates.

Checked or unchecked, that is the question

Greetings KWAG, I guess I am still dazed & confused too.

"Detect Scene Change" is set to OFF in all templates.
"Use Floating point DCT" is set to ON in all templates.

Does OFF mean checked or unchecked? In the template, Detect Scene Change is checked!

Thanks for all your hard work!

Hi MrRobot!

Uncheck Detect Scene Change.
Check Use Floating point DCT.
