what gives the better picture - mpeg-1 or mpeg-2?
 

alrite the whole deal with panic room...i put the cq on 94 and raised the min birate to 600...this gave me the rite size of file. But heres my question, whats the best way to get the best quality of video? does raising the birate increase the quality...or should i do what u said and put the CQ at 100? I dunno what to do, if birate raising does help increase the picture is it best to raise the max or min....plz help

also what gives the better picture mpeg 1 or 2....iread a bunch of threads and it seems split so since ur the best im gonna see what u say

If CQ=100 still didn't meet the sample size required, just leave it at 100 and encode your movie. As for MPEG-1 vs. MPEG-2, MPEG-1 wins hands down every time at low bit rates :wink:

Ok i did a few sample clips wit the x3 template and the 704x480 plus template. It looks like the 704x480 template has a better picture. whats the main difference between these two?

The KVCDx3 will give you better quality/bit rate ratio. Because the resolution is lower than 704x480, you'll fit longer movies on each CD. There's not that much difference in quality between 704x480 to 528x480. Only on a HDTV you will see a very small difference. Also you will see less blocks on action scenes with 528x480.
