KVCD with IfoEdit - What step am I missing??

Trying to get Pearl Harbor into the proper format for a test of DVD2One on 3Hr movie. When I try to use Ifoedit following instruction on their home page, I open the current IFO and tell Ifoedit to create new one, it will open and I can see the file in the Ifoedit window, howver when I tell it to creat nothing happens. I am missing something, not sure what. Here is my steps:

1: Rip the Two DVD
2: I get two VOB files (One for Part one, 2 Hr 8 Min and the other for part two (54 Min)

3: I rename to VOB 1-01 and 1-02 (As suggested)

4: Run IfoEdit, open the ifo's, tell it to create new ifo's nothing.

What step am I missing?

The extensions must be exactly xxxx-001.VOB, xxxx-002.VOB, xxxx-003.VOB etc. (Where xxxx is VTS_whatever* )

I think I've done that. Here is the renamed file:

VTS_01_001.VOB
VTS_01_002.VOB

I still can't get anything out of Ifoedit, I can see the file structure on the Ifoedit window, but when again when I tell it to Create New IFO, nothing happens.

I'll try to rip again and see if maybe I missed something. Thanks again.

Did you first "Join" the VOB clips with VOBEdit :?:

Just re-Rupper, renamed the two VOB.s. Tried to use VOBEdit, the same problem, it will open but will not go beyond that, nothing happens. I also tried to run through Ifoedit, the same results. Question - should al the files be renamed or just the VOB's? When I rip from disk one I get one vob 07-01 and when I rip from disk two I get 06-01, the first if 2:08 the second is 54 min. I did run this through DVD2AVI and it joined both without any problems, used the KVCD 352x240 template w/scripts and Fit CD. Came out very good for VCD. But I would like to try to get this to work with DVD2One just to test. Should I try to Rip all FILES on both disk? Ifoedit and Vobedit are new to me. Justing doing some testing. Again many thanks for all your assistance, I know your very busy on your own Templates and Scripts.

Hi Bud,

I havent tried this yet, but after reading the docs, this is what I'm going to do with the movie "Rose Red" which is two DVDs.
My first DVD VOB files are named VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_8.VOB, so I rename them to VTS_01_001.VOB to VTS_01_008.VOB.
Then on the second DVD, they are also VTS_01_1.VOB but I rename to VTS_01_009.VOB to VTS_01_014.VOB, and copy all to the same folder. So now I have a set of VOB starting sequentially from VTS_01_001.VOB to VTS_01_014.VOB.
Now run VobEdit and "open" the first VOB. That is VTS_01_001.VOB
Now go to "Edit/Join Clips" and select a new target directory, because VobEdit will create a new set of VOBs. This will take a while. When this is done, you'll have a new set of VOBs in a new directory. Now run IfoEdit and open your first VOB of your new set. Now you should be able to create the .IFO, .BUP, etc.
After that step, read the docs on ifoedit.com regarding a couple of small changes. I believe you have to do a "copy" of the colors of sub titles from your original .IFO, and "paste" this into your new set. If not, your subtitles will look green :D

Just got it....I did not use the VobEdit, I changed the origianl VOB names, opened in Ifoedit version 0.88, created the new IFO's. Ran through DVD2One, took 25 Min, played back in WinDVD, I have the 3:03 min completed and looks very good, at least in WinDVD. Now on to the burn part (RecordNow DX) . Just as soon as I get that completed I will let you know the results. I will play it back on a Panasonic RV32, Sony 61" TV. Let's hope for the best.

Let me know Bud, as I'm copying right now the second DVD VOBs to the directory of my first DVD, and I'm about to run IfoEdit to create the new .IFO.

My test results. My methods may not have been by exacting standards but the end result was extremely professional. Pearl Harbor a 3:08 movie fit very nicely on a DVD-R using DVD2One/ Ifoedit. Here are the numbers: 45 Min to Rip two DVD’s, 10 Min to process through Ifoedit, 25 Min to process through DVD2One, 58 Min to bur with RcordNow DX.

Started with this:

VTS_01_1.VOB = 7,547,560
VTS_01_2.VOB = 2,703,678

After DVD2One:

VTS_01_1.VOB = 1,048,574
VTS_01_2.VOB = 1,048,574
VTS_01_3.VOB = 1,048,574
VTS_01_4.VOB = 1,048,574
VTS_01_5.VOB = 395,976

Still have to work on the Ifoedit and VOBEdit process, new to this processing.

If I want to put 2 different movies instead of 1 movie with 2 discs (by using the same method as mentioned above), how can I select the 2nd movie when viewing??

Well I did the movie "Rose Red". The result: It sucks :!:
I guess a movie of ~4 hours is just too much for DVD2ONE. I expected better quality, but it's really bad. It's nothing like encoding with KDVD template. So DVD2ONE excels for movies that VOBs total ~7GB. More than that, it looks pretty bad. I watched on my HDTV and you can see blocks all over. A ~3 hour movie like "Pearl Harbor" shoud do fine. I also did "The Green Mile" previously, and it looks very good. So now I know that for extremely long movies, I'll encode with KDVD and I won't have that problem :wink:

Here's a 10 second sample from the movie "Rose Red". This is encoded with TMPEG and KDVD template using a MAX bit rate of 6,000Kbps and a CQ of 77. This is what the complete movie would look like on one DVD-R 8) : http://www.kvcd.net/rose-red-kdvd.mpg
Now that looks pretty good for a Full Screen movie that is 256 minutes playing time :lol:
The DVD I created with DVD2ONE doesn't even come close to that. So TMPEG wins again :)

Great, I tried the same movie (Rose Red), I'm having problems with VOBedit/Ifoedit and joining all the VOB.

I guess I got lucky with Pearl Harbor, I think DVD2One will good a very good job on anything at say 145-150 min or less.

What did you use to burn the Rose Red with?
