TMPGEnc: At 99% completion, the program shuts down

I have never seen anything like this before, check it out:

- I'll grab a divx or xvid movie
- Use decompress to change the audio from MP3 to Wav
- Try to encode it using the ULBR template
- At 99% completion, the program shuts down on its own
- When you try to play the file, it wont play and will have a crazy ending time, something like this - 4:5215861954494:4596455164587
- But if I join the file and burn it using Nero, the disc will play fine in the dvd player but will allow no playback on the pc
- I have tried many versions of tmpenc with the same results

dvd - apex-ad1500
pc - athlon xp 2400 512mb ddr

Hit me if you have any info

Are you encoding the audio and video simultaneously with TMPEG, or are you encoding them separately :?:

Mind-Over-MHz 02-05-2003 11:41 AM

I am encoding the audio and video simultaneously. I have always done it this and have had no problems. Its weird, I used to do all of this stuff on my old system, amd k-6 350mhz, 256sdram, win98se.

Try encoding the video stream only, and encode the audio with HeadAC3he. Then multiplex both streams with BBMpeg.

After an abnormal terminaison, the MPEG-1 header is wrong. This can explain the "crazy ending time"
A simple solution to allow playback on your PC is to use the "Simple Multiplex" option of TMPGEnc (from MPEG Tools)
-1 Select Video Input : your wrong file
-2 Select type : MPEG-1 Video-CD (non-standard)
-3 Set Output and then RUN!

Thanx hachemoncourt, I will try that. I have a couple of questions. Should I do this before every encoding job? Why is the program terminating before completion?

No, only use this procedure to fix wrong file header after abnormal terminaison.

to fix this use the source range and clip off the end of the film works every time i clip all my ends all the time i dont have to rencode

Thanx herndon, this worked great! I am still curious about why the program is terminating without warning and for no reason, but whatever - thanx again.
