Hi black prince,

I agree about the speed. The have done a very good job. They just need to iron out some of the small faults. I also agree about the "movie only". That's what I want, and I don't really care too much about the menus and extras :D

People please be patient, 1:1 copy will be released in time i can garantee you that!

Before we can make the 1:1 copy version we need to improve the quality control of the engine. And that's something we are doing right now, along with certain fixes in the engine to improve VOB handling.

Looks like you impressed DVD2one with your test of compressing
a movie to 800MB. Give me better picture quality and speed ..... I'll
be satisfied with just using DVD2one :D

Without actually trying things how does anything get invented?

What Kwag tried was typical of any user. Let's try extreme situations. Any software developer expects users to try anything with their software.

DVD2One is not expected to compact a DVD down to 800Mb but what has been highlighted is maybe a weakness in its algorithm which can be improved.

Cheers,

G'day Blackprince,

It is good to see there is someone else there with some maturity cos most of the posts in Kwags thread on that forum were rather childish.

Fortunately Rene is open minded and has the same desire to continually improve his product.

Just posted a reply to that thread

C'mon Kwag I'm sure you could have stirred the pot a little more than that :mnkypile:

Just kidding

I am looking forward to what the Dvd2one team come up with. :encore:

kwag 03-04-2003 01:18 AM

Well, now they know exactly where they have to work on
It's good to test software by pushing it to the limits. That's the only way you know if it's going to blow up somewhere

I was always told:

"Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience!"

At least the authors of DVD2One recognise that a valid point has been raised. Its a shame most of their users like to make do and not try and push the software to the limits and beyond. That explains why none of them are on this forum :D

Cheers,

DVD2One is undoubtably a fantastic concept that will be pushed further in the future. I was amazed however by Kwags findings that the quality decreases more during the film. This is the only reason why it is so fast and as soon as they put multipass encodng in etc, there will not be much speed advantage over Tmpeg or CCE (give or take a few hours).

The problem is, after using DVD2One i've found it no fun. I love putting 6 hours of tv capture on one DVD and i like putting at least 2, sometimes 3 film backups on a dvd. I love using the great new filters (Dust etc) that are constantly being developed by some very clever hobyists. I also think that K(VC)(DV)D is awesome and i don't care if my encode takes 3-4 hours, the results are always superb and i enjoy the process. Programmes like TOK are great and simplify the time taken to encode anyhow.

My £2 anyway!

Jim
