KVCD: 23.976fps or 29.970fps is best?

Hi all

According to DVD2AVI this movie i am trying to encode is 29.976fps, but yet when i load the AVS into tmpegenc it defaults the frame rate to 23.976fps. Should i leave tmpegenc at 23.976fps or put it to 29.976fps?

Please explain :)

Thanks

If you enabled 'Force FILM' in DVD2AVI, you should get 23.976fps.

Hi

I have found out it appears to be 'Telecide()' and 'Decimate()' filters in my script thats making tmpegenc choose 23.976fps. The odd thing though, if i disable Telecide() and Decimate() when i do a full encode it reports the total frames at 223152, yet if i leave telecide and decimate in it shows 178580 which is what Fitcd tells me the project is.

Whats happening here??? :?

Thanks

I am having the same situation. I am not using telecide or decimate in my script, yet DVD2AVI says it's 29.976fps and during encoding TMPGEnc is 23.976fps using KVCDx3 template.
:cry:

@TCC

Did you get the framerate 23.976 before loading the kvcdx3 template or after. The kvcdx3 template is set to 23.976 fps, and it will encode that way even if your source is 29.976. So load you avs script then check to see w your source is, then change the framerate on the template accordingly.

No change :( I load my avs script, and then the KVCDx3 template. The info at the bottom of TMPGEnc reads "MPEG-1 528x480 23.976fps CQ 60". I then goto settings to try and change the frame rate but it's greyed out/locked :(

Well if your source 23.976 then you should encode at that framerate. You should always encode at your source framerate or else the video will seem jerky. Plus at 23.976 it enables you to raise the CQ for a better results. :lol: 8)
