KVCD: motion in the video is not smooth?
 

KWAG: You did a fantastic job with these templates! I never believed in good quality MPEG-1 until yesterday!!!

Problem: I tried all your templates, but in every output I find that the generated movie is jerky. To explain, imagine watching a person walking but in frames. You loose certain footage in between. Ofcourse the output from your template is not heavily "framed" but any motion in the video is not smooth.

To site another example: If I were to shoot a moving car and were to use your templates, I don't see a smooth motion of the car. The car moves smoothly for some distance and then suddenly appears to have surged a meter ahead.

This problem is visible on my computer and also on my standalone DVD player.

Please advise.

This shouldn't jump at all in your computer.
It was done with the new KVCDx2 2-CD template.
Try it in your DVD player too.

I tried it. It does jump ... or is it just me, a bit more sensitive???

It appears as though the movie is moving faster than it required. Am I going wrong anywhere??

There's something wrong with your player or machine 8O
That sample doesn't jump at all viewed on WMP on WinDVD.
It's completely smooth.

You r right Kwag! That clip is indeed smooth and does not jump. What did u do different? How did u get the smooth output?

That clip was encoded with the 2 CD NTSC template "as is".
No changes at all.

I am encoding a captured video (AVI, 720x480, 29fps) captured via a Firewire card. Do you see any reason why I could be getting jumping video output? Notice that the captured AVI is at 29fps. Could that be the culprit?

Please advise.

The NTSC templates are set to 23.976. If you're going to encode a 29.97fps video captured from a camera, you have to change the fps in the template to 29.97. You'll also have to de-interlace your video.
You can't do Inverse Telecine because the camera films at 29.97fps.

It worked!! There is no jumping and the picture is very smooth and crisp. You done it my man!!!

I am using your 2 CD NTSC template and I am encoding from a 30 min AVI video. It took approx. 12 hours to do the conversion. Does it take this long?? I have a Pentium 3, 350MHz, 96MB RAM. Or is it because my computer resources are not enough???

Pentium 3 350 8O Never heard of that. Or Pentium 2 350?
For the time it took, seems like it would be correct with a Pentium 2 350Mhz.
