KVCD: New AVCD Template
 

Hi Kwag.

It seems,that after MVCD another Template called AVCD has been released.I didn't make tests yet but probably you could make some tests with it.You're an expert so you can make a better assesment about it.

But I presume that it's just a Spawn like MVCD is.

Already checked it out :D
It uses standard TMPEG matrix, so it's no problem. Not like mole (MVCD) who has "copied" KVCDs matrix, and is saying that he designed it :roll:
We've already sent them a note regarding copyright on the matrix, which is not "template" related, but a unique quantization matrix completely different to what has been used in the industry.
We don't have any problems with anyone using the matrix, but just mention and give credit that it's KVCDs matrix if they do use it. That's all we ask. They are actually saying that they invented it :!: , and that highly disturbes us ( including the company's legal dept. )
It's good that I don't have to handle those issues 8)

Can anyone that reads German tell me what the difference between the KVCD and AVCD templates are?

If you download the AVCD template, you'll see that is uses standard matrixes and changes some of the regular setting in tmpeg. That's all :)
All KVCD templates also have some custom settings, which are standard "user changeable" in TMPEG, but incorporates our own quantization matrix. That's what makes the huge difference :wink:

I just checked the AVCD Page and downloaded the new Templates,because I already expected that they are using the KVCD matrix.And my Expectations were Right .Those AVCD Thief's use Kwag's unique Matrix without any Advice or Permission.

We'll just keep on documenting and black listing them here so that everyone knows the true facts, until they have the decency on stating clearly that they use KVCD's Quantization Matrix. Then I'll be very happy to remove them from the list :wink:

How about making a Sticky somewhere's where it will stand out on
the FORUMS and maybe even your MAIN page too, of ALL the
rip-offs, copycats etc. ?? ?? ??

Yeah, stomp them out FAST !!
Maybe make a .GIF logo "blinking" (or something) KVCD, and
(/) (circle with a "/") all those other copycats !!

This will make it easy for those just starting out, and even if they do find
any other so called nVCD template, hopefully, they'll see the list of
copy-cats he he.. ..

in (mexican) spanish, mole is a food dish.

I think it's cool that people are experimenting with tweaking the kvcd templates. However, I don't think they should be released as original templates, and I definetly don't think they should call the matrix used in KVCD templates their own, as this is against the law and just not very nice. Basically, I think mods are cool, but people should keep them to themselves, or if they have a really cool thing they think others would like, post here in the forum telling how they did it, or giving a template that is clearly stated as a KVCD template with modifications. Kwag did all the work, it's not fair for some other group to change a few unimportant settings, change the name and say they made the templates.
