KVCD: 1.14GB file created for movie with 2:40:53 runtime?
 

OK, I just tryed encoding using the new KVCD NTSC template.
I encoded a 2 hour 40 minute movie and it was 1.14GB in size when it finished. Is that extra 40 minutes really doing it?? Or is something going wrong here?

The movie is Aliens just to let you know, one of my favorites! :)

2 hours, 40 minutes at 1.14GB. That's good :lol:
But that movie is a candidate for two CD's. Not one.
Have you tried that movie with the 2-CD template?
It just might fit! And at near DVD quality.

Except, this might just be my standalone but...
When I played the first disc on my standalone DVD player to test it the video was sorta jumpy, the audio/video was unsyncronized and the frames seemed a little slow... This doesn't happen on my computer, so is this that 352x480 problem?

My DVD player model is: RCA RC524OP
My first guess is that it doesn't like the resolution, 352x480, how do I change it to be a compatible resolution with my DVD player?

Make a small ( one minute clip ) with the 2 CD template. It's 704x480.
It might play correctly in your player.
If your standalone plays CD-RW's, burn it on one to test the resolution.
Some players don't like 352x480, but play correctly 704x480.

Well, OK, I guess I'll try even though I've already found out 352x240 works good... I burned your Matrix clip to a VCD CD-R ( 352x240 CQ 78 ) and it was reasonably good quality, couldn't quite tell the difference between 352x480, well very similar did notice a bit, so I'm already re-encoding Aliens in that.

But, would the 2 CD template be any better than that.
Also, I don't use CD-RWs for the simple fact they don't play audio, which I do alot of audio mixing. So, I'm sticking with CD-Rs... Would it be any different with that 2 CD template on a CD-R?? Or, are you just saying that so I would be able to erase it? :wink:

The new two CD template will give you near DVD quality.

OK, I've re-encoded again using the 2 CD template.
I liked how your Matrix clip looked using it, btw.

Except I was having problems encoding my DivX copy of The Matrix into MPG... I posted a thread on VCDHelp.com's forums about it...

I've never had any problems with audio on a CD-RW, either with video or .WAVs. I always burn a CD-RW as a test before burning a CD-R, both for video and audio-only discs. What kind of problem do you have?

I don't really have a problem, unless your talking about the Matrix. I tried encoding The Matrix to MPEG-1 from DivX and some portions of the video were unsyncronized with audio, after 5 seconds it fixes itself then it's unsyncronized again, this was using the default Video-CD NTSC Film template in TMPEGnc. None of my other VCDs have had that problem, strange.

But, I can live without the Matrix. :?

I also have the RCA5240P. Haven't gotten either template to work perfectly. Got pretty close by upping the min bit rate to 600 and lowering the resolution to 352 * 240. Just a couple of video jerks here and there. Of course the audio would momentarily mess up to. The new 704*480 template was even worse on the 5240. I have been using a Forced Film AVI as input to TMPGenc. My next attempt will be to convert to 29 fps instead of 24. Also, I may up the min rate to 800 at 352 *240 to see if the video can be kept from skipping forward.

Have you tried making conventional VCDs and SVCDs for your RCA?

Yea, 352x480 still has some small jerks here and there...
And, yes...I have made normal VCDs, they play great!
I haven't made any SVCDs yet.
