352x240/288 Settings?
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but having recently discovered that my player (Toshiba SD220E) only properly supports standard VCD resolution, I'm hoping there's a way to get quality close to what higher resolutions would offer with filters, max bitrates, etc.
I can play 704x480 muxed as SVCD but the audio a few seconds out of sync whenever I fast forward or rewind...is there a way to fix this? Should I use SKVCD instead but change the resolution to 480x480? Thanks for any help. :) |

did you test using the Compatibility Test ? http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2464 read, download and test your player! |
I also own a Toshiba SD220E. Only difference is that mine is a PAL version because I live in germany. Tests I've done results in the following working combos:
352x288 MPEG-1 muxed and burned as non-standard video cd 480x576 MPEG-1 muxed and burned as super video cd 480x576 MPEG-2 muxed and burned as super video cd I've not tested 704x576 with any real movie yet and don't know if these combos will work on the NTSC player. Holger |
I live in the UK but my Toshiba SD220E is multiregion. Anyway, I found out at dvdrhelp.com that this player seems to have problems with keeping SVCDs in sync, and I also found a workaround :D. So now I can encode at 352x240/288, 480x480/576 and 704x480/576. Thanks for your replies :).

Until now, I don't have any sync problems using one of the described encoding formats. What is the workaround you've found? Sometime ago I read that pressing the angle button on the remote control twice resyncs the video and audio...

Is that for Toshiba only or for all DVD players?

Toshiba SD220E only as far as I know, but you can try it with others and see if it works.
