xVid codec too dark ?

Hi

Anyone noticed that most videos encoded with xVid are too dark ?

Because of that I have to use levels command in avisynth to correct the gammas, contrast etc and it takes looooong, long time to encode ...

Any workaround ?

not too familiar with xvid, other than converting them to kvcd via vdub,,,but here's a quick search from shodan over at Doom's...

You can use:

Levels() to adjust brightness in a nonlinear fashion. Use ffdshow to get the values.
Tweak() to adjust contrast/brightness
ColorYUV() to adjust all the things above, and more.

Use ColorYUV(analyze=true) and Histogram() to get information on how your luma is distributed. You could perhaps try and put up a link to a few seconds of video.

Thanks

ColorYUV do a very good job, but it works only with avisynth 2.5 :(

I guess I have to stick with levels ...

I never have any problems with XviDs being too dark...it might just be a codec conflict...
