from divx 25fps to kvcd 23.976
Hello,
I would like to encode to ntsc kvcd352x240 23.976fps from source divx 25fps. What's the best way to do it? What's the way? I'm loading divx source in MovieStacker and I'm getting pal box checked and resolution 352x288 which I presume is PAL. I'm leaving it as that and after that I'm loading .avs script generated from MovieStacker to TMPGEnc direct without modifications but in TMPGEnc I'm loading template ntsc kvcd352x240 and I'm starting encoding. Is that correct? Should I add something to my .avs script first? Now it seems first .avs script is resizing the movie to 352x288 and after that TMPGEnc one more time to 352x240. Looks pretty complicated to me. :-( Any ideas and/or answers will be greatly appreciated. |
Hi JoZ,
Encode at the same frame rate as your source. So if your DivX is 25fps, encode at 25fps PAL. Your NTSC DVD player will play it  Use the KVCD LBR 352x288 template or the KVCD 352x288 PLUS. -kwag |
Hello, kwag!
Got it. One more small question that's confusing me a little bit. When I'm opening divx in MovieStacker, PAL box is automatically checked. After that I want to load new preset but there is no one with resolution 352x288. I'm loading 352x240 but because PAL is checked CropGrip settings are 352x288. Is that normal or I'm missing some of the settings/presets in MovieStacker? I'll know soon is my dvd standalone is pal with PAL. |
Hi JoZ,
MovieStacker has detected the source frame rate and aspect automatically for you :D Just encode with one of the PAL templates :!: Good luck :D -kwag |
No luck!
It plays great with windvd, but in my dvd standalone (Panasonic rv-31) I can see very nice color movie without any sound. No sound at all. I believe the problem is PAL. I'm converting the sound from .wav to .mp2 with headac3he dch, 128, cbr... I was using KVCD 352x288. So the question is still: What is the best way to encode PAL to NTSC Film? |

checkbox "resample" and I aways choose 44.1. When you asked me did I resample I was trying to do it again. HeadAC3he is unckecking the box "resample" as soon as I hit the "start" button. So my WAV was 32,000 Hz and after converting it to MP2 (doesn't matter the button resample was checked) I've got 32,000 Hz MP2. Never happend before. So I used GoldWave (Effects/Resample/44.1) to convert WAV 32,000 Hz to WAV 44,100 Hz and after that with HeadAC3he from WAV to MP2. Works great now. Thank you kwag! |

all the experiments before finding what's the best in my case and it was much more easier to use all forum members experience. Thanks, gonzopdx. My dvd standalone player plays PAL without a problem. I didn't have any idea about that (thanks to kwag I do have not just an idea but and experience). I'm in US and (of course) my TV, VCR, DVD, camcorder blah blah are NTSC on 110V :P |
