KDVD: Kdvd half-d1 compatibility?
Has anyone ever had the problem where a dvd player would not play 352x480 mpeg-2 video? I am trying to use the kdvd half-d1 template and it is just not working on my Toshiba SD-1700. Five other players in the house have no problems, it's just the Toshiba. If I use the full-d1 template, everything's fine. It's been a long weekend of trying different things. Can anyone offer any insight?

Hi BlueBeard,
The 352x480 DVD-R you burned that didn't play, was it the same DVD-R media brand you used for the 720x480 :?: If it was, you could be the first case I see of a DVD player that only supports Full D-1, and not half D-1 :? -kwag |
Hi Kwag,
Thanks for the reply. I'm using a Pioneer 105 burner and the -RW media that came with it. Unless, for some reason, the Toshiba has an issue reading 352*480 ON -RW media? Maybe I'll try with some -R media and see how that works out. To be more specific, it does lplay but what is displayed on the TV is not what I would call "video". The lower half of the screen is a solid tan color. The upper half of the screen shows the video as if I were tuning in to a local broadcast with a pair of "rabbit ears", very fuzzy, very noisy, very little color (distant UHF at it's finest, lol) |

You could be right!. It could be a -RW issue  Let us know  Edit: That's what you just said :x. To early for me, I'm not reading correctly yet  -kwag |
Well, no luck using Maxell -R media.
