KDVD: Query about file sizes...
 

A few days back I did a widescreen 2.30 hours AVI to KDVD copy, and file size was around 2gb inc audio for Full Size PAL Template . Which is great. But I am now doing a full screen 1.30 hour MPEG2 to KDVD conversion and it is ending up around 2.8gb with audio. Considering the video is only 1.30 hours, it seems quite a lot more then the 2.30 hour one. I can understand that being widescreen it takes up less space, but I thought the much lower video length for the full screen one would even this out.

The only difference for this one is I am using colour correctors and ghost reduction filters in TMPEG. Would this add MBs to the final product ?

The original file size is 4.1gb so 2.8 is still great, but I wont be able to really fit 2 full screen movies on one DVD with such size. I was hoping to get around 4.30 hours, would this be at all possible with full screen ?

are you using Filesize Prediction?

I don't think so, I have just loaded the KDVD Full template and just changed the colour and ghosting (all in TMPG).

Man, sorry for taking so long to reply! But try using ToK to predict the final size...

I don't think colour correction would make any differenc, but ghost reduction would (I think), as there is more difference between frames (=less compression).

I recomend not using the internal TMPGEnc Ghost Filter. Use Ghosbuster instead as an AviSynth filter. Grab it here:http://www.jungleweb.net/~sansgrip/a...er-readme.html
