A question regarding the preview window?
 

Howdy fellers,

Which of you would say that the TMPGEnc preview window is the best example of what you'll finally see on your TV?

Is this really a tough question??

not me. that preview seems to be just a shrunken version of the source and looks nothing like the final product.

Pull down your CQ to nothing and obviate your filters, and that telltale window will spew CRAP.

The preview window in TMPGEnc will give you information. If you set it to "Fix to 320x240", it will show you the aspect ratio of your encode, the way that it will be seen on TV. If you fix it to that size, I'm pretty sure that's what your encode will look like, at least on your PC. It should look a little better on your Standalone though!

Below, should be exaplantion of some of TMPG's preview window..

I think I know what you are asking.. basically, you wanna know if TMPG
is showing you your ACTUAL encoded video ??

Well, acutually, yes and no. I've studed TMPG's output, as it encodes.
I've noticed that you can see MOST of your final video.. some examples..

* resize
* color
* filter ie, Sharpen, Noise Reduction, (all the filter built-in to TMPG)

However, the ACTUAL, ACTUAL encoded video, I'm not sure of. One time,
I thought it was, then another time, I thought it wasn't. So, I'm not
REALLY sure then he he.. but as for the above, yes, you definately see
your filters and resizes, letterboxes and cuts etc etc.

For me, I set my TMPG's encoding video to 720x480 because I WANT to see
if I can capture any artifacts sooner !! This is a tip from VHELP to you and
others. It will help you to spot anything that looks like you SHOULD stop
the ecoding process. And, if I REALLY wanted to speed up the encoding
process, I could either minimize TMPG (hence, no video) OR, turn off
video in TMPG during encoding. That's IF you want that extra milla second.
But, personally, I do w/out cause I LIKE to see what I'm encoding, case
somewhere's deep into the encoding, you spot something. Gosh forbid.. if
should I have nothing else better to do 8O

my memory is so good right now.. I'm heavily juggling two programming apps.. an (MPEG preview) and a work-related Access DB that I have to
finish by Monday (which ain't going so well) plus, i'm surfing, watching tv
he he.. and brain-storming.. but..

if memory serves me well, it's like this:
T-MPEG-Enc

.. OR ..

T'MPEG'Encoder

The "T" is for the developer, TSUMI (spelling)
