KVCD: GOP structure for 29.97 fps NTSC ?
 

Does the KVCD GOP (1-24-12-24) WORK WELL WITH 29.97 FPS ntsc?

You might want to try 1-30-2-1-30 just for the hell of it :wink:
Remember to adjust the file prediction formula to take 30 frames per sample instead of 24 :!:

To adjust the file prediction formula, do you mean in Moviestacker, for instance, to change the line that reads: Sampler(length=24) - change the 24 to 30?

Yes that's what you have to do if you want an accurate prediction. I haven't tried if prediction is still that accurate at this framerate! however, give it a go!

what about prediction with ToK?

ToK does it automagically :D
Make sure you check "Auto", and it will adjust the GOP and the frames size for the samples 8)

I tried a GOP of 1-15-2-15 on a 29.97 fps tv capture and it played fine. Played ok on my dvd player.

I think standard TMPGenc GOP is 1-5-2-15

1,5823,2,1,30.... in:

Resolution (fps):480x480 (29,970 fps)
Total Frames: 56420
Total Time : 00:31:23

change or live the 5823??? :? :?

You can leave it set to 5823. The MAX number of frames per GOP is always ruled by the last number. 30 in your case.

Is this really needed?? I mean I do a couple of KVCD at 29fps but I didn`t change the /24 vaule in the rpediction formula? I admit the file sometimes was a little bit big but nothig exagerated?
