KVCD: change the KVCDX3 resolution?
Hi,
since my DVD-Player doesn't support the 528x480 mpeg2 resolution, I want to ask, if the KVCDX3 template is optimized to that resolution. Does changing to 480x480 / 544x480 / 704x480 make a difference in picture quality or does it simply take less/more space? |
Re: KVCDX3 resolution
Hi gokpog,
It's a basic rule: The higher the resolution, the larger the file size because of increased bit rate to maintain the same quality. The KVCDx3 is the "Happy medium" resolution of all! If your player can't play 528x480, try 544x480. Most probably it will play :) -kwag |

THX kwag and ovg64!
One more question: What happens to the "resize avs script line" (sth. like: BilinearResize(528, 366, 0, 0, 576, 336)) when I set the resolution in TMPGEnc to 480x480? And more important does it do sth. bad to the movie like getting a bad aspect ratio? |

MovieStaker will automatically take care of aspec ratio, I would also use Bicubic Risize instead of Bilinear. |
Will KVCDx3 resolution give better quality than SKVCD resoultion 352x480 NTSC :?:

Oh-so-nice :) hope my player will support the resolution :?
Is there differences between these resolutions 480x480, 544x480 and 528x480. Witch one will give the best quality :arrow: //Wolfi |
the higher the resolution, the clearer the image will be. but if the bitrate isn't enough for the resolution, you will see blocks.
|
I forgot to ask :o Witch on of these are NTSC and witch one are PAL :?:
480x480, 544x480, 528x480 :?: //Wolfi |
Any x480 is NTSC.
Any x576 is PAL. -kwag |
wow you're responding very quickly :D So all of those three are NTSC, if I understand it right. Are they all KVCDx3?
//Wolfi |
these are some PAL resolutions:
544x576 528x576 480x576 352x576 352x288 |
So if my source avi resolution is 640x272, witch resolution would be the best to choose :?: Please give an example both for PAL and NTSC :P
//Wolfi |
you could use 544x480 (ntsc) 544x576 (pal). that will keep it close to the source.
|
Oke thanks for advice :) You think SKVCD 352x480 will lower the quality? If 544x480 wont work on my DvDplayer, witch resoultion should I then go for? 480x480?
//Wolfi |
480x480 is good. 352x480 will look a little blurrier but is still good.
|
And 544x480 are very good :D I just hope it will work :wavey: And thank you conquest10 and Kwag :P
