Laserdiscs have a slightly worse resolution than a 4:3 DVD?

Laserdiscs have a slightly worse resolution than a 4:3 DVD, at 560x360 pixels:

Just finish messing around with this resolution, picked a 16:9 source at 560x360 straigth fron the d2v sence MovieStacker doesnt like 560x360
encoding 2 samples with TMPGEnc it look a little stretch out vertically and the aspect ratio look bad with Power DVD but burn it anyway again twice and play on my SonyDVP-NS315 and it look perfect noise free 16:9 no problem :D , now if somebody try this let me now if it work or not.

thanks

Are you sure? :? I always thought laserdiscs used 528x480 or 544x480...

Thats a Q from here: http://www.cs.tut.fi/~leopold/Ld/ResolutionComparison/

That's the resolution of a letterboxed laserdisc after the borders have been clipped. If you scroll down a bit you'll see the full screen resolution is actually 560x480....Which still isnt what I thought it was....
