KVCD: Output File too big?
 

hi,
i used the LBR-template to encode an avi-file of about 105min video+audio but i got a file with about 890mb. what could i have done wrong? any ideas? the scource-file was about 3,7gb.

i used the file from the templates-site (pal). the cq was 60.

I'm affraid you can't just download and use the templates at their default CQ settings and expect it to magically make your movie come out to be the right size for you to fit it onto a disc (that sure would make life easier, but unfortunately that's not the way it works). You need to use File-Size Prediction in order to see what is the right CQ level to use to convert your source so that it will turn out to be the correct size to fill up your disc (you can not simply guess which CQ # to use because every movie you convert will be different, even if it's the same length). You should make sure to follow the exact methods described in Black Prince's guide(found here in the kvcd forum), and you should have no problems (it's actually pretty simple). If you already did follow these methods, including File-Size Prediction, and your file still came out way too large, then I guess you just had an unlucky break....filesize-prediction almost always works great, but it is called "prediction" afterall, which means it isn't a 100% perfect science (pretty darn close though with the current methods used here :wink: ). Follow the guides and you'll be at it in no time!
