Is there a need for another video editor?

I use VirtualDub to edit out comercials and trim intros and creadits. Is there a need to another editor that we can edit out comercials as well as contol transitions?

Presently I use VDub to edit, open the VCF file in my own little program that translates the VCF into an Avisynth Trim command/s and paste that into my avisynth script. For issues like zooms, blending and fades, I add those manually to the avisynth script. I've been playing around with the idea of writing an video editor that will allow not only the editing but the transitions as well. I would also include a frame search feature as well as a "comercial marker" to speed up the editing time.

(Although is would be cool, it only takes me to about 10 minutes to fully edit a 2 hr movie so I'm not sure that this wouldn't just be a make work project.)

Is this wanted?
What features would be necessary?
What is on the "wish list"?
