DVD2SVCD constantly crashes

Hi,

I'm having a problem with the above program, when i open from desktop i'm getting a windows explorer error message saying sorry this program has to close, ect ect...But sometimes it opens but most of time it crashes. I have done 1 successful conversion from avi2svcd and came out great, but thats all luck i have had so far. :(

My PC Specs; Dell 8250, P4 3.06Ghz, 1 gig ram, Ati Radeon 9700pro, WinXP Pro.

I've installed the following for dvd2svcd;

Aspi-xp & Forceaspi (Aspi Check: successfully installed using 2 adapters)
Divx
Xvid
Elecard Mpeg2
ac3

I have also just updated my firmware for NEC ND1100A DVD+RW, but wasnt sure if this had anything to do with it. :?

Can anyone help me plz?

Cheers

hi TheDJ® :)
welcome :!:

i will try to help you but i'm not expert.

what is your source and destination(vcd,svcd..?),
dvd2svcd version, script used(resize,filters...)
...all informations please!

TheDJ 05-13-2003 05:14 AM

Hi Jorel, thx for ur reply & the welcome :) .

Here are the answers to your questions;

Source: Divx or Xvid
Destination: SVCD or SKVCD
DVD2SVCD version: 1.1.3 bundle 2

I would tell u the script used if dvd2svcd loaded, but usually i dont touch anything and leave it as avi2svcd script.

I'm getting this error in my system info>windows errors;

09/05/2003 13:42 Application Error Faulting application dvd2svcd.exe, version 1.1.3.2, faulting module dvd2svcd.exe, version 1.1.3.2, fault address 0x0000416a.

I hope u can help, apparently no one has ever heard of this kind of crash before?

cheers

TheDJ®
:)

i got some problems(differents of yours) with
DVD2SVCD version: 1.1.3 bundle 2 too.

download the DVD2SVCD version: 1.1.2 build 1
from the home page and test.

i never use dvd2svcd to convert Divx or Xvid,
only dvds(vobs)...(i don't like divx).

remember,uninstall the 113b2 first, reboot, than install the 112b1,ok?

a few months ago i ever used this prog to kvcds convertions.
now with MovieStacker and ToK,we got the magic! :wink:

:idea:
did you read the black prince's tutorial for divx?

are u using cce or tmpgenc for the encoder?
if you try doing a vcd or s/kvcd, and it crashes it should give u a log file.
can u post the log file?

if u can, try changing the ram {is is ddr, sd, rambus etc??}
I have hiccups sometimes on a p4 2g compaq at work when using d2s, changed the ram and whammo....

there's some info on the faq on doing a hardware test or benchmark of some sort for ram, on the dvd2svcd forum.

let us know

el_mero_zooter;

I cant even open dvd2svcd to make a conversion, it crashes before it opens, saying windows explorer error....

i have opened it once, and did a successful conversion to svcd, but thats about it.

I am using CCE as the encoder, no log file coz it wont even open.
My ram is 1 gig ddr ram, and i've done memtest86, which just did several tests and seemed to be ongoing, i stopped it after 30 mins...

jorel;

i will give wot u said ago and see how it goes. i just downlaoded the latest version, BOOOOM! crash straoght away! :cry:

Cheerz for advise guys, will keep u posted!

I would suggest to try to remove the forceaspi files (they are 4 files) and install Aspi XP again - the forceaspi have overwritten 2 files from aspi XP and added 2 files which are not needed in XP.
If you still have Nimo pack, get rid of it.

jorel 05-16-2003 08:02 PM

TheDJ®

the best aspi is the old.
use forceaspi!
:wink:
and don't reinstall the new dvd2svcd,
remove the new 113 and use the 112b1.
the new do some breaks ...i read in doom9,need little corrections.

Thx for the reply peeps.

I've tried forceaspi aswell..still no joy. But it does open after about 4-5 tries, but is worrying me. Maybe i am jinxed? lol (TMPGE is fine though :wink:

Abond 05-17-2003 02:49 AM

I think you don't understand my suggestion. REMOVE forceaspi, it has files which Windows XP DON'T need. These files could screw your configuration. Another suggestion is to repair the Explorer with windows CD.

TheDJ 05-17-2003 06:51 AM

Hi Abond, thx for ur help.

I have removed forceaspi a long time ago, i only have aspi-xp, which shows installation is successful.

How do i go about repairing explorer with CD? not quite sure how to do it?

Thx
