I never had an interlaced source until now, and only encode MPEG 1, so I never really dealt with interlacing.
however I'm pretty sure that you should first de-interlace the source before encoding... shame on me if I'm wrong :oops: |

I once encoded some extras from the Hitchcock collection DVDs to MPEG-1 without deinterlacing them (they were interlaced as most extras seem to be). The result was just horrible. Static scenes were okay but whenever there was any motion at all, lots of artifacts due to the combing that was not removed came up. Not nice at all. So, deinterlace and no more problems :wink: |
