kvcd: backing up dvds with standard tmpgenc templates?
I started to use KVCD templates a while ago and had fairly good success in converting avi files and dvdrips to vcds. I have since gone back to backing up dvds just with standard tmpg templates to two disc svcds.
I have just ripped minority report (2hr 19mins PAL 25fps) and using the tmpg templates this will not fit on two cds and i cant bear anything spread on 3 cds (2 is MAX!) Im sure there has to be someone here that can help me get the best out of this movie onto two cds, maybe even one if im lucky? Id appreciate any help at all please, and hopefully not just referrals to guides as i have been thru them all and still dont feel ive pushed the quality to the limit! Thanks In advance! :D |
Hi ShorN!
Have you looked into kwag's excellent new adaptive script? With it you should be able to squeeze Minority Report onto two CD-R's! Perhaps even with a resolution as high as 704x480/576 :D ! Just go to Optimal Script in the forum... Good luck! |
i havent looked at that yet, as i said i havent used kvcds for a while, but i shall definately look into it,
I think the movie will probably have to go on 2 cds as there is quite a bit of action. It might be interesting to see how it looks on 1 cd though, has maybe anyone done Minority Report ? I will want to play this on my 28 inch widesvreen tv aswell so it needs to look good big! |
Hi,
I've encoded this one for 1 CD-R90 at 352x576 (br=200-2400, cq57, audio: 96kbs-joint stero). I've got to do quite heavy filtering (pixiedust) and to cut the credits, but the result was very watchable. This was in march using the current script of this time...I think now you should be able to gain more quality using the latest technics (especially considering the lot of action scenes in this movie) regards, ***mfb*** |
Hi ShorN,
That movie will look like the original DVD on 2 CDRs, if you use the adaptive script :) You don't need 3 CDs 8) -kwag |
Hi guys thanks for replies so soon,
Kwag, Can you possibly point me in the direction of the adaptive script you mentioned, I have done some basic encoding using kvcd temps, with moviestacker to create the scripts but im not entirely sure about them. Sorry to keep needing help like this i try to pick up as much as i can from guides and forum posts, but sometimes things dont quite sink!! 8O I am very enthusiastic to become familar with the ways of KVCDs cos ive seem some amazing results in the past that I still know can be pushed further! Thanks :D |

Guides
Hello ShorN:
Perhaps this is the only subject where I have an answer. Please go to http://www.kvcd.net/ and on the right hand side of the page you will find several guides. Download them and have a ball. Totonho (Sorry kwag did not mean to bypass you, but I know you are a busy, busy maestro. I am just trying to help) |
