KVCD: If you had the choice, which would you choose?
528x480 resolution with a CQ of 63 or
353x480 resolution with a CQ of 73? |
I'd choose 480x480 with a CQ of ~70... :D
Seriously, it seems to be the best compromise, but you have to see what suits you best! |
But ToK doesn't have a KVCD template of 480x480 does it? So I won't be able to use kwag's quant. matrix and get good results or will I?

I looked on the template website here at KVCD.net and don't see any 480x480 templates either. |

and in tmpeg open up the plate 528x480 chainge to 480x480 and save it as long as is mpeg 1 you should have no problem, or burn a test clip to a CDRW to make sure your player plays it. |

Just change it in your script... |
No not in tok , but Moviestacker will change it in the script for ya.
check out the Detination tap resolution  |
Hi,i might not be reading this correctly but when you make your script in Moviestacker you can choose svcd(480x480) and then when you load it into tok it will be perfect.
Please forgive me if this isin't what you mean I'm just a lamer who likes to help whenever i can :D |

Rethinking 480?
I used to agree with the idea of using 480x480. TOK works fine if you are resizing with Avisynth. I actually was using the KVCD3 template and just changing 528 to 480.
However, I changed my mind after a couple of threads with Kwag. 480 looked great on my Sony DVD player but I could not get it to play on many others. It is the least supported VCD resolution and causes issues. Even on players that support SVCD too there can be issues with 480 on an MPEG1 VCD. If that is not an issue then I do think there is more of a quality improvement from 352 to 480 than you can see between 480 and 528. But I only have a regular NTSC television. You may see more difference with 528 over 480 if you have an HD tv. Grantman |
