KVCD: best Bitrates?

the first time i converted a avi to kvcd using movie stacker & TOK i used the default max bitrate of TOK which was 2500. the result was a good picture but on playback it jerked. would i be right to assume that it is a bitrate problem?

i encoded again but this time going off the guide which says for a 320x240 bitrate of 1800
the result was a good playback but the picture was very pixilated.

here is my first problem with the first encode http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4542

could anyone help me out and point me in the right direction of where im going wrong.

here is the script from my last conversion - the pixilated one (the source is fine)

Code:

LegalClip()
GripCrop(352, 240, overscan=1, source_anamorphic=false)
GripSize(resizer="BilinearResize")
UnFilter(50, 50)
TemporalSmoother(1, 2)
MergeChroma(blur(1.58))
MergeLuma(blur(0.2))
BlockBuster(method="noise", detail_max=7, seed=1)
GripBorders()
LegalClip()
AssumeFPS(25.000)

Your problem is that you're converting an AVI(DivX, XviD). Try a DVD source.
You shouldn't have ANY visible macroblocks at 352x240(288) with a MAX bitrate of 1,800Kbps.

i want to suss it out converting avi's, divx, xvid though kwag! lol

my first conversion picture quality was fine but on the second it is very blocky on playback yet the source is clean - i just havent a clue what has caused it to be blocky.

all im after really is a basic script that i can load up in TOK and do a simple conversion which will produce a decent quality watchable kvcd
